Spruceglen Inn

Our king room was clean but smelled very musty. It was smaller than I expected but had a tv and mini fridge and a clean bathroom. Jason and Jasmine at the front desk over at the Aspen Lodge were very helpful and accommodating. We actually checked out of Spruceglen early and got a room at the Aspen Lodge instead because the bed was terrible in our room at Spruceglen. My sister stayed in another king room at spruceglen and also thought the bed was awful. Our backs hurt so bad the next day. I wouldn't stay at Spruceglen again only because of the beds.

My husband and I were just looking for a place to sleep and shower. We found this place to be very clean and comfortable. It's a little dated but I wasn't there for the bedspread designs or tv. There is no a.c. but the ceiling fan and opened windows worked just fine. There is a mini refrigerator, but no microwave. Continental breakfast and pool, hot tub and extras are available at the Aspen Lodge where you also check in. I found the staff very friendly and helpful and there is a place on the end of the building with a fire ring, picnic table, horseshoe stakes and corn hole boards. I thought it was very decent for the price and would stay again!!

Is this place retro, yes. It it fancy no. I read the comments before booking our room and I have to tell you, some people are just too all about me for their own good. Our room was CLEAN and very well maintained for the age of the place. I loved the striped wallpaper and the box tv. It had a charm all its own. We are not bed and breakfast or resort kind of people and this place was right up our alley. They messed up our reservations when we got there and we had our email confirming our stay and it was fixed right away. We loved it and would do it again. We even got to enjoy a family of foxes on the property. It added to the charm of our stay.

We were looking for a simple basic hotel. Small and simple is fine but dirty is unacceptable. From the outside this hotel is tastefully painted and looks just fine but once we got into our room I realized it was a mistake. There was still a dirty towel hanging in the bathroom from the previous guest, the shower was dirty, the shower curtain filthy, The toilet bowl disgusting. I would not allow myself to think about the dated comforters on the beds.Besides that, our room looks like it has never been seriously cleaned. When I called the front desk I was transferred to someone who told me I was overreacting. This hotel is associated with the Aspen hotel next-door. I would not recommend this hotel.

After booking my room I saw poor reviews of the hotel, so I was worried until we checked in. Nothing fancy, but the room was clean and the bed comfortable; after all, isn't that all you need? When we are hiking or checking out the sites of the North Shore, we want somewhere to lay our heads at the end of the day. The room was a little stuffy when we first opened the door, but it aired out fairly quickly. The room had a small table and two chairs, a mini fridge, a king bed, and plenty of clean linens. ||||In the morning, a short walk to the Aspen Lodge next door, and breakfast was waiting for us to start our day. Yes, there are fancier hotels in the area, but the chain hotel with our available dates was more than TRIPLE the room rate.
