Mangy Moose

The Mangy Moose was just perfect for our fourth visit to Grand Marais. Loved the room and the most comfortable bed we have had away from home ever. Also enjoyed being able to walk everywhere from the great location. Mini fridge and coffee service were appreciated. The room check in is like an Airbnb stay and owners always available via text. This will be our base for future visits!

Great location, very clean, cozy rooms! The beds are VERY comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again. It would be nice if the blinds provided more privacy/were a little more black out. At night you can see in the room if it is illuminated on the inside, but not visible if it’s dark in the room. It would also be nice if the fire pit was not also the designated smoking area, but it is a very cute fire pit area!

I loved the location and the ambience of this small motel complex. They are a good value, clean, and quiet. I was a little concerned about the lack of a lobby and the self-check-in process, but there were no problems at all. The staff is reachable by phone or text and they are friendly and helpful. I rented a small unit for myself, and the largest unit, the Moose Huis for my son and his family. He had a full, well-appointed kitchen. My only criticism for my room would be that a lot of motels have upgrades their in-room refrigerators to larger units.

We needed a self catering situation for 8 days, and the Mangy Moose Hus was perfect. Comfortable, quiet, had everything we needed. Convenient walking distance to anywhere we needed to go, as well, but it was February, so bring good snow/ice walking boots.

We stayed 3 nights in this cute little motel that's located directly on Hwy 61 and within walking distance to all the shops and cafes via sidewalk and crosswalks. ||The room was clean and had the usual amenities like hair dryer, ice bucket, luggage racks, and big-screen TVs. The bed/duvet/pillows were comfortable, the plumbing is all modern and worked great (loved the giant showerhead), the heat/fan worked great, and we could open the windows to get some fresh autumn air inside. ||Although there's not a direct view of the lake, there's a row of evergreens to mask the view of traffic, plus Adirondack chairs around a fire ring where we and other guests relaxed in the evening. ||The Mangy Moose is a very inviting place, with potted flowers on the windowsills and around the property, easy park
