Red Roof Inn Bloomington - Normal/University

This hotel was terrible. When going to check in I had to wait at the door as it was locked. Finally, the guy came out. Told me all the TVs in the rooms weren’t working. Fine, it’s past midnight, I just need somewhere to sleep. Got to the room. The door was very difficult to open. The bed was a double at best. Reservation said queen. The inside of the room was bad, but manageable. Again, it was after midnight, and we had been driving a lot of the day. The smell was bad, couldn’t quite place it. After sleeping the best, we could, we woke up to find many other awful things. Broken bathroom door, cockroaches, holes in the bathroom wall, black mold… the list goes on. See photos.

I was on a cross country drive, needed a place to sleep for a few hours. I checked in at 11:30 on Dec 27, and out the next morning by 7am. I do not have unrealisticly high expectations for a budget motel, but the amount of mold in this room was unsettling. When I checked late at night, after driving for 15 hours, I went almost immediately to sleep. I did notice the pet hair on the sheet before laying down, but I didn’t care, I was exhausted. It was when I woke up the next morning that I really looked more closely around the room and turned on all of the lights - well, the ones that worked - and found that the entire backside of the bedskirt was covered in a gray mold. Oh, let me not forgot to mention the cockroach that crawled across my pillow as I lay there after hitting snooze in the mor

I checked in… and needed to bring in two little puppies. Just sleeping in a crate … together…. And even thought it says pets plural… free. They changed me for the second puppy !! Then it’s gross.. the room isn’t really clean… there is a person in the back kind of where I was .. sleeping in their car !!! It is super creepy !!

I have been here in for almost a week now in between moving States til my place was ready and it’s been absolutely amazing. The staff are so helpful and giving the amount of nights I stayed there were discounts given. The guy up front came to the room immediately when in need of solving a teachnical issue or whatever the case may be, etc. HIGHLY recommend this red roof.

Positive: "" Negative: My only comment is that we had gone thru a really hard day and were stresed tired upset and my daughter accidentally locked key on room twice trying to keep eye on my one one year old grandson when happened I was asked why would I let her have key
