Hyatt Select Richmond / Chester

Pleasant overnight stay in a room with 2 double beds and a sleep sofa . The beds weren’t particularly comfortable but adequate. Coffee station, microwave, refrigerator, enough outlets for charging our devices, free WiFi. The highlights of our breakfast were hard boiled eggs, little egg quiches and waffles. Coffee was diner quality. Good teas were available. The general lobby area is simple but very pleasant - for breakfast, socializing and working. Our room also featured a desk nook.|We would stay in this Hyatt again.

Very nice and hospitable staff so no issues there. Hotel looks so nicer than other Hyatt Place hotels. But the infrastructure is not up to the mark. The heater was not working in the room even after setting it to 75F, and I need to run the fan all the time to get some warmness at night. I came very late after work so didn't bother the staff on this issue being very tired and don't think this could be fixed as it need a thermostat replacement. The elevator's buttons don't work and won't display the light if it's pressed or not. I have to press multiple times like a Casino slot machine. Breakfast is very limited compared to other Hyatt Place hotels and definitely need some upgrade.

Positive: The staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was great. Negative: This hotel is under major renovation. Unfortunately, I was not made aware of this. The elevator & hallways were disgusting with damage and dust. THe dust made me sick. Although my reservation was for two nights, I checked out after the first night.

Stopped by the new Hyatt Select while I was road tripping in the area and was pleasantly surprised! The staff was absolutely amazing - so incredibly kind and helpful. The rooms were VERY clean and spacious and had everything you needed (including a microwave) and I really felt the renovation was great! I also really enjoyed the new limited breakfast. While there wasn't cereal and bacon, they did have super amazing egg bites and tasty waffles! Food really felt fresh and like real food! Would highly recommend this property to anyone in the area who needs a comfortable bed and room along with competent, kind staff. pro tip: if you are a Hyatt member, this new renovation turned a previous Hyatt Place to a Hyatt Select, which is a new brand and will count towards your Brand Explorer reward.

This is a very convenient hotel (right off 295 south). It is nicely appointed, well-staffed and next door to a good Mexican restaurant (Jalepenos) and a WAWA convenience store. We plan to stop every year during our trek from Maine to South Carolina.
