Hyatt Place Chicago/Schaumburg

Rooms and everything was clean. As some one else has said after reading the reviews the swimming pool is still down. Was told it had been down for three years and that it had been removed from the website. Seeing the pool picture smack dab in middle of the page is why we chose here instead of staying with our friends at another hotel.

Positive: Staff was great, room was clean, the breakfast was pretty decent considering hotel breakfast. Decent selection. Of the standard sausage eggs and potatoes type of scenario at least it tasted fresh and good and even real eggs. Negative: Ran out of room for likes. The staff all of them were very nice. They were Albanian apparently like I guess a lot of people in this part of Chicago? But very nice. It must be their personality as a nation.

The official website shows a very nice swimming pool. The amenities listed includes a swimming pool. But, this location doesn't have a swimming pool. They haven't had an open pool in years. The lady I spoke with said she had been working at that location for almost two years and she has never seen the pool open. I booked this hotel specifically for the pool. I could understand if they had an emergency or something, but this is just deceitful. "Oh but there is a tiny banner at the top of the page, and if you click on it, then you get a pop-up that explains the pool is closed" It's absurd. Just remove the pool from the website. Overall, it was a 'fine' hotel. The room was cheap. It was also feeling very worn. The air filters in the HVAC unit didn't fit. The sheets were showing signs of wear. The ceiling was discolored and the bathroom very very small. ||||The front desk was friendly and the breakfast was fine. ||||But their website shows a very nice looking pool. It's a big photo, right in the center of the screen. It lists an indoor pool as an amenity. Three different times, it says there is a pool.||||They are lying. ||||There is no pool available to the guests. It is not an amenity. It hasn't been operational for years, according to the staff. But they continue to show it and mislead customers. Look, I get it, maybe you don't care about a pool, cool. Then stay here. ||||But to intentionally mislead guests like

I've stayed at this property several times over the past few years and was always happy. I was a bit dissappointed this time. The staff were rarely at the front desk, i had gone down several times to ask for some small necessities but each time no one was there. Even after waiting a few minutes, the staff I did see seemed a bit overwhelmed. I was informed the pool was under construction though when we passed by we saw nothing that would indicate that. We had booked two nights but opted to leave after night one when I woke up with several small clusters of bumps on my body. We DID check the mattress and didnt find any signs, but was too icked out after that point to stay longer.
