Hilton Garden Inn Schaumburg

We reserved two rooms recently. Both rooms were clean. Although, stale smelling. Beds were comfortable. Towels were a bit scratchy, but appeared to be of good quality. However, my husband thought they had a musty smell. While the rooms were satisfactory, we were dismayed that only one elevator was working. And waiting for that one seemed to take forever! The pool area was clean and had a nice view. The pool was rather small, however the water temperature was comfortable. It also had a staircase, which is nice for someone with mobility issues and may have trouble using a ladder. They offered breakfast at an additional cost. Seemed a bit overpriced. $10 for a bowl of oatmeal?! There are many decent restaurants in the area, I recommend eating elsewhere. It was an ok experience overall.

The rooms were clean and the fitness room was a nice amenity. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by a major inconvenience: the elevator was broken (apparently has been for 3 weeks), and we were never warned ahead of time. Traveling with a baby, we had to haul multiple rounds of luggage up 12 flights of stairs, which was exhausting and very frustrating. A heads-up before arrival would have made a big difference and allowed us to plan accordingly. Clean hotel, but the lack of communication and accessibility was very frustrating.

Having limited mobility the desk is just off to the right, elevators are located fairly close. Our room is handicapped accessible and it would not matter what you use this room has plenty of space. Front desk staff is friendly. The big down side for us is after a 5.5 hour car ride we were excited they have a restaurant on site, however after we got here it’s closed for a private party. That’s hard after driving so far to have to get back in the car. Over all recommend staying you won’t be disappointed!

I booked my hotel reservation a few days ago. At no such time did any of the staff alert me that the elevator was broken and that I would have to walk up stairs. I am recovering from a torn PCL, torn meniscus and broken cartilage in my knee. It was a painful experience to walk up and down those stairs. My daughter asked for fresh sheets and a blanket and the staff was too lazy to bring it and told her she had to come and get it herself. The shower looks dirty. The hotel on the first floor smells like mildew. The pool looks unkept. Not to mention I am a Hilton Honors Member. I will be calling Hilton corporate office tomorrow. This was not what I was expecting after reading a 4.7 rating.
