My husband and I spent two nights here to enjoy all the winter activities this area has to offer. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not allow for ice skating due to a period of extended thawing followed by a heavy snowstorm several days prior to our trip, but I'm happy to say that the xc skiing more than made up for it! The lodge's trails were the best I've ever experienced--beautiful, immaculately groomed, and well-signed. We skied for 9 miles and it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Our accommodations (Cabin 6) were wonderful too! We opted for the cabin and breakfast plan, and this was perfect for us. The breakfasts were huge and tasty. The owner and staff visited with us and were super welcoming and informative about the trails and activities available to us. Our roo

My 16 year old son & I stayed at the Lodge for our first trip to the BWCA, and it was awesome! We stayed 3 full days and definitely recommend the half day Rose Falls trip. AJ was a fantastic guide, teaching my son how to port a canoe, pointing out different types of plants & trees, and answering the many questions we had about BWCA. The entire Lodge staff - front desk, dock staff, restaurant staff, everyone we met -were always friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay an amazing experience. The location is perfect, and we enjoyed hiking the nearby trails and kayaking on the lake. So peaceful & relaxing and yet plenty of activities to choose from. Wish we could stay longer!

Although we had an issue with staff and our dinner earlier this winter, we decided to go back a 2nd time. A female staff member apparently remembered us and chose to be extremely rude and provide poor service. We ordered drinks, nachos, and chicken wings(burnt) and were given 2 napkins. When we asked for plates she stated she did not have any and that she gave us 2 napkins. I asked again for utensils and she reluctantly gave me some. (Manager later told us they do have plates etc.) I asked the women if we had done anything wrong and she said no. When our bill came (over 100 dollars) my husband decided that before he tips her he was going to talk to her about her unprofessional, rude service. She got defensive and told us to leave or she would call police or manager. We waited for Manager w

I should’ve left this review months ago, but time has gotten away from me. This is a magical place for a solo escape, couples, and families. The setting is beautiful, and the staff and service are top notch. I returned to Gunflint Lodge in early October to get away from the Cities for a few days for a sorely needed escape, but had to cut my visit short after getting a phone call notifying me that my father’s death was approaching. When I checked out, the front desk staff refunded the duration of my stay. It was an act of kindness I hadn’t expected, and it meant a lot in the moment. Thanks, Gunflint, I won’t forget it.

I have been coming to the restaurant here 1 or 2 times a year for the last 5 years. I have never used the lodging, however I make it a point to come here. I love the view of the water, the very cozy inside of the restaraunt. The food is good, I’m not gonna say great cause it’s 45 minutes up the gunflint trail and you can’t expect Michelin standards. However, for what it is it’s very good. I love this place, and I will continue to return annually/bi-annually.
