We stopped in for a 1 nighter. We pulled in after the office was closed and in the dark. Easy in and out, and easy to find our reservation information and site. We were in a pull thru across from the office. Making the turn at the end of the row to come up the side we need to pull in from was a little tight for us in our 42ft 5th wheel… we were hugging tree on one side and the neighbor on the other… it can be done but go slow and watch your back end. Site was pretty level, and we were able to stay hitched. Site was also big enough for us to park our extra vehicle. Water pressure was good. Wifi was good. Bathrooms were clean. Staff on the phone when we made a reservation and that we saw in the campground the next morning were pleasant. There is a train that runs through… not super loud and
A bit expensive for a one-night stay, but otherwise good. Our pull-through site was easy to access. However, the sites are narrow & we had very little space between our door & the back of our neighbor's rig. A bit tricky when you have a dog on a 6-foot lead, but we made it work for just the one night. The pool was not yet open for the season, & we did not need the laundry facility, so nothing to review there. But we did use the bathhouse; it was in good repair & clean. It's a little further from I-95 than I expected (1.5 miles) but that meant no traffic noise to speak of & we got a really good night's sleep before continuing our journey northward.
This review is long overdue but still wanted to reach out and say what a great KOA Emporia, VA is. Back in October 2025 we were traveling down south and stopped for what originally was going to be a one night stay. We ended up staying 3 nights. The front desk was excellent. I wish we had asked the woman’s name who checked us in and then assisted us in extending our stay. Unfortunately several things happened and we got distracted and never got her name. Nonetheless she was extremely helpful and we very much appreciated her assistance. My wife was driving due to my having an eye issue and we were assigned to a site she was afraid she wouldn’t make it into. Since the camp was booked solid it was the only space available. In came Will to save the day. Will runs the maintenance and assists cam
Booked not reading reviews and even if so I may have gambled on the train thing. Don’t. It’s almost every hour, sometimes twice an hour. And there must be a road close by because they absolutely wear out the train horn going by. Maybe in the summer you could run the fan but in the end of February we have the heat running meaning no white noise of the fan. The campground is perfectly fine, the location with the proximity to the train tracks was just dumb. We’re a one and done here.
Just as described. Some reviews from years ago may have been accurate but when we stopped in for a couple days we talked with the owners. It used to be a Jellystone park but is now in the KOA family. It is definitely up to standards. It is a smaller park but it is clean. They police the area daily. There is a game room small store, pool, closed for the season when we were there at the end of October. Signage and roads were easy to navigate. If there were issues in the past they are non existent now. There is a train that runs through a short distance in the rear but it was minimal noise from where we were. We had an alternator issue and had to stay a second night on our way from NY to Fl. My neighbor had an issue also and the KOA were accommodating to us. I would highly recommend and will
