Candlewood Suites Lake Mary, an IHG Hotel

I do not typically review hotels, but our recent experience warrants commentary. For $150 per night, we encountered numerous issues. The entire hotel appears to require significant renovation. Upon entering, a musty odor was evident. Our room's air felt damp, floor felt damp and all the bedding felt similarly damp, as if they had not been fully dried before being placed on the bed. This made it unlikely that we would be able to get a good night's sleep. We contacted the front desk, and the night manager stated that she was the only staff member present and unable to bring us fresh bedding, but we could collect them ourselves. Positive: Part 2 from things I didn't like. After the towel incident. My mom requested a room change for two days and was told it was not possible unless she paid for a new reservation. Due to these issues, we checked out Friday instead of Sunday Negative: We requested clean towels and linen Thursday at 6 p.m. We were told they were being cleaned. By 8 p.m. nothing. Friday, again told they were still being cleaned, and an hour later, nothing. Towels appeared after I mentioned leaving a bad review.

I called the hotel last minute with kids, a puppy, and some very specific requests.. Gabrielle was a dream! 🤩 I'm sure it was all low key and easy for her.... But we travel a lot and I want to reiterate that in my experience, not everybody is as warm, personable, and efficient as she is! I was so tired. Unexpected stop. Figuring several logistics out. She was positive, warm, personable, organized, and helpful! So I wanted to leave a review expressing my appreciation. And thanking her for being able to really think about my few requests and taking it seriously. The hotel is clean. The room is clean. The location is convenient and easy to find. Dominoes delivered here quickly. Just love easy experiences like this! 🤗🙌🙏🥰

The property is significantly below average as an overall grade. The parking lot has a light or two that requires maintenance. The front doors don't open, each person has to manually pull the doors apart by following the directions of the printed signs. Elevator area smells like urine. The room is heavily scented with masking spray. The window lacks sound dampening from the heavy interstate traffic. The shower water pressure was extremely light for the 3rd floor. The night clerk didn't want to stand and greet guests professionally, so he decided to stay seated. He made customers reach for items for checking such as paperwork and room key. The list is extensive and these were only a few observations. The bed was comfy and the sheets and towels seem to be clean.

Unless you’re on a strict budget I do not recommend staying here. I booked based on pictures (idiot move) the first room I was assigned had a terrible smell. There was a huge hole in the carpet , bathroom was dirty from floor to toilet and even the tub looked like someone had just showered right before I arrived? The bathroom sink was also cracked up in multiple places… I requested a second room and there were multiple hair strands across the “clean” bed sheets. Immediately left and went to Home2 by Hilton where I was comfortable and at peace.
