The hotel has been recently renovated though it still needs some more. The bathroom had granite counter tops and nice tile floors. The wallpaper was a little ugly. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and had lots of pillows. There was a chair and a desk in the room. However, our refrigerator did not work. The hotel is old, it was built in 1906, so you can hear the other floors. I suggest staying on the top floor. The entry way to the hotel is nice, tall ceiling and nice furniture. I had no issues with the customer service. The location is great. There was a parade right in front of the hotel and we could watch it from our window,

Location was nice, that's about it. I was transferred here from the Wyndham as they did not have a room ready there for some reason. They called it a maintenance issue. Stained sheets, smell of mildew, crumbling plaster walls. Hallway carpet was filthy and had several lights flickering. Worst of all, no hot water. Informed the front desk staff, she kickstarted the boiler, and I had hot water that night. The next morning, cold water again. Desk staff was apathetic and indifferent in general. They seemed inconvenienced when I politely informed them that their boiler was out. It seems from other review that this has been going on for a while. Don't stay here if you can avoid it.

I've stayed here three times since 2009 after going to concerts at the NorVA. It's in a great location and the staff is very friendly. It's an older hotel, yes. But that doesn't mean it's bad. Many rooms are right next to a busy street, but there are no loud noises that would keep you up at night. I'll be coming this summer!

Its an old building, and its awesome. They kept a lot of the "old" look, which I love. It's super cheap for being 1 block from MacArthur Center's main entrance. All of the restraunts and shops on Granby are just a short stroll, too. Parking is $15, but that's not bad. My bathroom was nice, and everything I would be touching is clean, if you can look past some scratches and bruises. where the ceiling meets the wall is a little iffy, but I'm not going near it.

It's in a good location, especially if you can find a parking spot. I believe they have pay parking around the corner. Easy access to Norfolk nightlife and the price is better than most places in the area. I've stayed here twice and it's been pleasant both times. The hotel is a little older, but the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean.
