My wife and I enjoyed a most delightful 2.5 hour dining experience and exquisite dinner at Glass Light Hotel Norfolk. We were treated far beyond expectations compliments of the Chef’s Counter option and masterfully created and presented by Executive Chef Tichafa Chingombe and his stellar team. Each of the 5 course tastings was exceptional. It was good we were seated in a first class setting otherwise I would have licked the plate of each course. The atmosphere, the accommodations and the accompaniment of Chef Tichafa collectively created a setting fit for royalty. And a heavy dose of fun was also featured. We look forward to returning to enjoy a different rendering of their seasonal fare!
We had the BEST experience at Glass Light. The hotel itself is amazing, the staff is so friendly and welcoming, the rooms are awesome (and the view was amazing!). Beyond that - the restaurant downstairs should have a Michellin star it's so good. They poached a pineapple. They made the best short ribs ever. We sat at the chef's table and got to watch the process and that was SO cool, too. Their breakfast menu was also incredible. Run, don't walk - even if it's just for dinner and drinks after work one day. Plus, the art is SO beautiful everywhere. It's a great spot in downtown Norfolk that you don't want to miss.
This is awkward because while I’m writing a review of the overall hotel, my husband just stormed out of the room steaming mad. The room is fine. Roomy for a “city hotel” although at no time do I want pocket doors in the bathroom and an opaque window for the shower. BUT we just returned to the room from a day out and although our room was made up, I noticed there was only one towel… for two of us. What? Also this morning my husband noticed that the shower gel dispenser (so common with hotels nowadays) was empty and I thought surely the room attendant would fill it when they cleaned today, but no. When we went to call the front desk to ask for another towel and some soap, there was no answer. My husband, as previously mentioned, went down and although there was no guests at the desk was t
We recently stayed at the The Glass Light Hotel & Gallery to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday, and while it’s a beautiful property, our experience had some disappointing moments. Check-in was at 4pm, but our room wasn’t ready until 4:40. We had to wait in the lobby with our newborn, and I ended up nursing and changing her diaper there. I had timed everything perfectly so I wouldn’t have to nurse in public, so that was frustrating — thankfully the waiting area was empty at the time. I specifically reserved a corner city-view room with a tub. The entire reason I booked this hotel was for the tub — I wanted the three of us to be able to bathe together since our tub at home won’t fit us all. If baby was asleep, my fiancé and I could’ve enjoyed a bath together (something I’ve really been lookin
I needed to stay in the area for work one evening and chose this place due to all the positive reviews. Checking in was easy and friendly. They have valet, which was easy to use as well. The hotel is very walkable to many places to eat, including a really nice steak & seafood place around the corner.||Walking to the room was a pleasure, as they have art on display throughout the property, as well as a nook in the main hall upstairs that has a water fridge and fresh fruit for the guests. The room was FABULOUS! When I first entered it my first thought was the interesting and unique design of it. The layout was spacious, of both the bedroom and the shower/water closet areas. The HVAC was nice and quiet and worked great and there were plenty of windows in my room. Bed was comfy too. M
