The location is great and close to everything. The bar on the 4th floor is excellent but can be very busy. The rooms were disappointing. First, the water pressure is awful. The temperature jumps from burning hot to ice cold as well. The AC doesn't stays on. We had to set it to 65° at night to get it as cold as possible as it turned off around 3am. The room is fairly cleaned if you don't look at the glass barn door to the bathroom. Also, we found no dish soap and a strange sign in the cupboard. I understood this when I saw the maid clean two glasses with just hot water and a cloth. Finally, the Starbucks and bistro downstairs is never open, however there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The hotel has a lot of potential but clearly needs to invest a little more care into their rooms.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and large. Decent water pressure in the shower. Very comfortable bed. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because we could not figure out how to operate the air conditioning system without the help of the hotel engineer. I'm an HVAC engineer, so when I can't even figure it out, that's a problem. And in Phoenix, of all places? No bueno! ||Here's the trick: you have to override the occupancy sensor by setting the fan to HI. If you just set it to AUTO, then the AC will never turn on because the occupancy sensor will never know you're there. Once it's on, it works great.||This problem could be resolved by posting instructions next to the thermostat, which apparently the hotel has, but Marriott Corporate has nixed. Bad move.

Positive: Climate control working well throughout the hotel. Heat outside was hitting 116F. Lobby and room were very clean. Complementary breakfast!! Negative: No drinking water in the room. I had to go back to the reception to get the water. I was given two complementary bottles.

Quick less that 24 hours business trip here in PHX from PHL. Clean hotel and room. Friendly service at the front desk. I have always wished for darker hotel rooms for sleep when I travel, and this is the first one that was almost totally dark. HOWEVER, apparently there is such a thing as too dark, because navigating to the bathroom in pitch black in an unknown space was a real adventure. Strong suggestion to hotel management: Replace the push toggle light switch by the toilet with a dim LED toggle switch for guest convenience and safety. Included breakfast was better than average, and I really liked the coffee (Starbucks?) although my travel companion found it too strong. Nice dimmed hallways. Good HVAC in the room. Heads up: No safe in the rooms.

Employee Recognition – Makayla I would like to formally recognize Makayla, a front desk agent at the Residence Inn/Courtyard Marriott in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. This morning, I stopped by the front desk to have my bags securely held while I handled work-related matters across the street. Makayla greeted me with a warm smile and immediately provided professional, courteous service. Her positive attitude and genuine care made the experience seamless and welcoming. Makayla is the reason I am taking the time to submit this recognition. Team members like her are invaluable to the Marriott brand and play a significant role in customer loyalty. Her professionalism reflects extremely well on this property. I sincerely hope management recognizes Makayla in front of her peers and considers he
