Residence Inn by Marriott Phoenix Desert View at Mayo Clinic

JW Marriott was booked solid for a conference so I stayed at the Mayo Residence Inn. Rate was over $400 a night for a pretty average (actually below average) suite. Check-in set the stage for my lackluster stay. Clerk offered me sitter 500 Bonvoy points or two items from the shop for being a platinum member. She was adamant that I had to select the items immediately, not over the duration of my three-day stay, so I grabbed a can of Modelo beer and a bag of chips. She then started yammering about the cost of those items possibly exceeding the $11 allowance for priority amenities. BS nickel and diming that made the welcome feel unwelcoming. Same with the domed cake dish on the front desk displaying chocolate chip cookies. I love hotels that offer these to guests. Not this place. They're no

I don’t like adjoining rooms. They give me the creeps. At least ask me if I’m ok with an adjoining room. I was too tired from staying with my sick family member at the hospital to go back to ask for a change. My family member was next door at Mayo , so I appreciated being so close. But expect to pay out the nose. I had to troop back out in the dark and cold to put a parking sticker on my vehicle. Parking cost $14/night. The bottles of water that I thought were gratuitously provided turned out to have $6 price tags attached. My room was clean but showing age. I could hear every door open and close in the hall. I’m at the Hyatt about 5 mins north tonight. So much better. If I had only known. I wanted to write this review as a service to others in a similar situation.

From check in to check out our stay was perfect. The staff is exceptionally caring, friendly and helpful. I worked in the hotel industry for many years and would give this place 5 stars. The rooms are excellent and perfectly set up. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. The access to the Mayo clinic is fantastic and they even offer a shuttle back and forth to the clinic. Really!! This place is fantastic

We stayed at the hotel for 25 days. The hotel staff was amazing. The hotel was clean. The service was wonderful. My doctor requested cleaning service every day after brain surgery and they were more than willing to accommodate. Angelica was our housekeeper and she was so kind and caring. Pierce, who worked in the bar restaurant area was great company to visit with and we enjoyed the conversations. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

They have changed management recently and it shows. For $400 a night I expect much better. For example, the TVs no longer allow you to get Netflix. This has been a problem for several weeks according to the front desk. Next towels had holes in them and called twice to get replacements but it never happened. Only one dishwasher soap so we couldn’t wash the dishes again. Toilet paper just shreds because it is too cheap. The disposable salt and pepper shakers are being re used. Selections at breakfast have been reduced. It short skip this place.
