Residence Inn by Marriott Bethesda Downtown

I stayed here for about a month. The hotel is ok. It’s dated. They need to upgrade it in a few ways. The main issue is the they have two elevators and one has been down for months. When there’s a few hundred people there that cases people to wait a very long time. Second issue I had was no hot water during peak shower times. For 8 days I took cold showers. Management wasn’t able to help much until a big group left. The photos pretty much sum up my stay. Elevators out of service and they ducttaped the garage scanner to the wall. Do better Marriott

Stayed here for an extended period of time due to my work and was very happy with my overall stay. The breakfast every morning was always good quality, the staff was more than accommodating with any and all requests. They routinely brought me extra coffee packets for my room at all times of the day. The location is great with plenty of restaurants and bars being walking distance. If I'm in the Bethesda area again I'll look to stay here. Just try to keep both elevators up and running.

Positive: My son was actually staying in this same hotel.He's been away for a job assignment. Everything was very clean.The breakfasts were awesome.It's located close to a lot of things downtown. Staff was very friendly. Negative: I don't like how the mail is handled. Mailed my son, a card two weeks prior and it still had not arrived. Staff claimed that it could be anywhere. I had the exact address of the hotel and marked it downtown, and they still did not have it.

I am a very loyal Marriott customer and rarely complain. But this hotel experience was sub par. The hotel itself is old, dated, and gross. The rooms and hallways smell like vomit with an extreme perfume trying to cover it up. We stayed 3 nights and our room was never cleaned. We paid $35 a night for valet parking and our car was never there or even being retrieved when we requested by text. There was only one functional elevator. The pullout couch had metal bars making it extremely uncomfortable, even for a child. There were no extra blankets. And the breakfast food was inedible. The only bright spot is that the staff is nice and friendly, and it’s a good location. But I expect better from a Marriott brand especially in their home town and wish we had stayed elsewhere.

I want to be very specific with this review. The staff at this hotel are extraordinarily helpful, professional and friendly. The front desk, valets and breakfast staff are top notch. However, I cannot give better than three stars for three reasons. 1. The WiFi is pretty bad. As someone who was having to work from my room in the evenings, it was very frustrating to work a full day, come back to the hotel and have my time wasted with shoddy WiFi. 2. One of the elevators was constantly breaking down. I stayed there for two weeks and one of the two lobby elevators was only operational for maybe 3 days. And not even the whole day of the 3 days. This wouldn't have been a problem if there were stairwells off the lobby to use, but there weren't. And 3. It's dumb to have four washing machines in th
