Renaissance Fort Lauderdale West Hotel

We just had a brief overnight stay after a concert, so we wanted something nice but affordable. I went to the front desk around 11:45PM to check in: the hotel clerk was very nice, offered us free water bottles, and asked if we wanted late checkout. The rooms were good quality—there were some scratches and scuffs, but they were clean and had nice furniture. The beds slept great! The water got really hot which is a plus. Overall, would stay there again. Very nice staff, clean place, and in a good spot.

Clean, with helpful staff. Our bed was beginning to sag, so I did not sleep as well with both of us tending to roll to the middle, and I would have liked to have had a microwave available. Otherwise, everything was good. Parking was tight on weekend evenings because of parties in the ballroom.

The room was fantastic: spacious living and dining areas, a comfortable king bed, a large bathroom, and an amazing view of the pond behind the hotel as well as the Hard Rock guitar in the distance. ||||2. The sunrise in the mornings was gorgeous, and the lighting on the Hard Rock Hotel guitar at night looked amazing.||||3. If you enjoy running or walking, there’s a beautiful loop around the pond behind the hotel, or you can take advantage of the long stretches of sidewalk just outside the property.||||4. Sadly would never revisit this restaurant again. Had reservations for a friend's birthday as this was her venue choice. I found the very first impression when greeted before being seated was cold and indifferent and we were the only people there upon arrival. The menu lacks decent variety and knowledge of items not great. The cocktails, Espresso martini. citrus martini were mediocre at best but the wine ok as knew the vendor. We'd mentioned that it was a birthday dinner but it wasn't acknowledged really. The waitress was very pleasant and our gratuity was around 22% regardless. I was just so surprised that an actual hospitality facility like Renaissance would be so lacking in a friendly knowledgeable staff.

Positive: Staff were excellent Negative: A lot of deferred maintenance and the swimming pool was closed down but was not mentioned on the website when booking this location. Staff suggested we go a mile away to another hotel to use their pool. A nice gesture but quite inconvenient.
