Holiday Inn Detroit Metro Airport by IHG

The hotel was fine. The bed was decently comfortable and it was clean. The hotel is a little worn and about ready for a refresh. ||I had two big complaints, one, it was loud, the planes fly right overhead and it sounds like you are on the runway. Surprisingly it is quieter in your car than in your room. Better soundproofing would greatly benefit this hotel. Two, they do not let you control the thermostat, not even a little. It’s see at 71 like it or not. I since it was cold out that meant the heater was blasting. I should at least be able to turn off the heat if I don’t want it on. Despite what the thermostat says, the front desk apparently cannot override it to give you control. Totally absurd.

Positive: Location and parking are very good. Walking distance to Starbucks. Negative: They don't provide daily housekeeping. Room temperature was uneven. Much colder within 10 feet of window. Elevator down button was broken on 3rd floor.

While we were there for less than 12 hours (early morning flight), the hotel was perfect for our purposes. It was quiet, clean, and easy to navigate. The flight and park was convenient, and Marilyn (at the front desk) is a gem. She was so personable, kind, and gracious, and the hotel shuttle was fast and efficient too. Highly recommend!

Pretty typical of a holiday Inn but a little worn out. We stayed here twice in two weeks due to flight connection schedules between the coasts. First stay seemed to be an updated room. It was clean and the facilities worked as expected. The room felt and smelled clean. Just three opposite situations in our second stay. The room smelled dirty when we walked in the door. We figured it was the disgustingly dirty carpet. We kept our shoes and our socks on the entire stay. If it were not 10:00 pm we would have changed rooms. The bathroom was tiny. The sink water pressure was just more than a trickle. The shower had the hot and cold plumbing reversed so you had hot right away. No big deal but not right. The beds in both rooms were comfortable. The property is located in close proximity to the airport, which is convenient for travelers with early departures or late arrivals. Airport access is a primary advantage of this location. During this visit, staffing levels appeared limited, which affected service responsiveness. Interactions with staff were minimal and did not consistently reflect standard hospitality service expectations. An airport shuttle service is available; however, shuttle timing was inconsistent and did not operate reliably according to schedule. The hotel facilities and room interiors appear dated, with visible signs of age in fixtures and finishes. Overall, the property may be functional for short stays based on location, but operational capacity and facility condition should be considered when planning accomm
