Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Canton

This hotel is “okay”.||Not horrible, not close to great. For me it was okay for an overnight stay. ||I personally wouldn’t stay here again. ||The staff was very warm and welcoming. The hotel is undergoing renovations so the pool is not open however you can go across the street to use the pool at their sister property. ||The hallway to the elevator is dark, the carpeted floors in the hallways need a GOOD vacuum. ||When we entered our room it was obvious that it had not been vacuumed. This makes you question the cleanliness of the entire room. You know the feathers that come out of down pillows? There were little white pieces all over the floor. ALL OVER THE CARPET, everywhere. There is no way this is a Marriott property; it is under renovation but we had one of the renovated rooms and while the bathroom was quite nice, it didn't carry the rest of the room. The carpet was downright nasty; there was food (some cooked, some uncooked) on our floor; and we had either a cockroach or water beetle in one of our rooms (in the new bathroom). The first room we were given was missing the top several inches of the door which was just downright weird. The halls were dirty; piles of dirty towels in a few spots, the elevator was almost gross the carpet was so dirty. The breakfast was less than one would expect from a Marriott. Nightmare! The whole reason we stayed at a hotel when we're only 1 hour & 20 minutes from home was so that she could swim. Let me tell you about this experience without writing a book. We dont travel very often so when we do we would like to enjoy outer stay. What a letdown. We received a early check in message from Marriott-got to the hotel at 2pm. We were told there wasn't any rooms until after 3pm. We came back at 3:10pm, and still no rooms with a full lobby of people waiting. We finally got our room at 3:45pm, and my daughter couldn't wait yo swim. We go down, and the hotel tub is closed-sectioned off with yellow caution tape & chairs. We go to get into the pool it's literally freezing. I got in, but couldn't handle it & walked around. We're told later that it's operating with one heat

Unfortunately, this was a very poor stay. The property is undergoing renovations, and we were placed in one of the renovated rooms, which makes the condition even more concerning. From a cleanliness and maintenance standpoint, the experience was unacceptable. Our room had food on the floor—both cooked and uncooked—items left in the refrigerator from previous guests, and we encountered what appeared to be a water beetle or cockroach. The carpet was extremely dirty (my socks were visibly soiled).||Common areas were no better. Hallways were dirty, the elevator carpet was downright gross, and there were piles of wet, dirty towels left in multiple hallway areas.
