Extended Stay America Suites- Detroit - Metropolitan Airport

Other than being close to the airport there’s nothing good about this property. ||Upon arrival, the lobby had a strong odor of marijuana and cigarettes, which became even more intense on the second floor where my room was located. The room itself was unclean, there were crumbs scattered throughout the kitchen area, milky stains on the headboard, and the bathroom had not been properly cleaned.||My stay was unpleasant due to the strong odors throughout the building and the poor cleanliness of the room. I will NOT book again.

Upon arriving initially I check in and got my key go to the room and someone was in there. WE both were shocked! Went back to front desk and the check in guy tells me something is wrong with his computer. I specifically asked for first floor because I had a recent knee surgery and he was asking if I would take a 3rd floor room. There was a sign on the evaluator that said out of service. So that was A BIG NO, you want me to carry our luggage up 3 flights of stairs. I tell him I booked through extended stay like that should not happened to overbook and demand a refund. Oh no cannot do that so, he had to get the GM on the phone, he ended up booking a room about 15 minutes away at another extended stay. That check in was a joke too. I arrive and the front desk guy was nowhere to be found for

Positive: Close to work Negative: A lot of problems. Elevator broke, room needed to ceiling repaired, a deep cleaning walls, carpet, between box spring and mattress other guest leaft chip bag. Furniture needed to be wiped down and the air conditioner as well. Better selection of breakfast

HEALTH DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO BE CALLED TO THIS LOCATION IMMEDIATELY! You are hit with a wall of thick, musty, old smoke as soon as you walk into the lobby, which lingers throughout the entire hotel and the rooms. The rooms were anything but clean. I would not be surprised if housekeeping literally just remakes the bed and refolds the towels to be reused by the next guest. It was that disgusting of a place. There was mold on the hood vent, a pile of dust that looked liked it hadn't been touched in over a month, bodily fluids on the chairs, stray hairs in the bathroom, fingerprints ALL over the doors and touch points that look like they hadn't been wiped down in months, and the shower had a drip all night long. Polite staff but room wasn't very clean. No ice machines on property (never seen a hotel without ice) and mattress was extremely uncomfortable leaving us with back pain. It was a very quiet stay though, not loud at night and couldn't hear anyone in their rooms.
