Courtyard by Marriott Bloomington by Mall of America

The hotel was oversold, the van was inop to/from the airport and the front desk only had 1 very kind calm cool employee working. She deserves employee of the month/quarter as she juggled Ubers, rebooking sister properties and downgrading people like me with class! She was empowered to offer extra points and a complementary drink at the bar! Her midwestern charm put everyone at ease and I was completely satisfied.

The rooms are nice. Remodeled within the last few years. Nice shuttle to the airport and the mall. Lobby is inviting. Pool is fun to enjoy as the snow falls outside. What made this review worthy of five stars was the staff. Every interaction I had was positive. Front desk, housekeeping, restaurant hostess, cooks, everyone was polite and welcoming. Within a few minutes, a company's staff will tell you everything you need to know about their company culture without even realizing it.

I love the updates and waste saving changes. I was extremely satisfied. The bed was very comfortable. The sofa/loveseat thing made working after hours relaxing. The staff was welcoming, helpful and seemed to really like theirs jobs and having people at the hotel. The breakfast was so much more than I expected with good food and conversation with the staff. It was a great stay for WORK!

Unexpected stay due to a blizzard. The staff was busy but had a good attitude and handled the overflow well. Rooms are very nice, comfortable beds. The fan in the bathroom is quite loud but that's not a major thing. The best part is Jake's Restaurant and Bar. Small dinner menu but fantastic food! A varied selection so almost anyone can find something they would like.

Added two stars for two reasons. First is the rooms are generously sized with a large TV. Second was because of the hotel employee Jim who was working the bar. Jim was incredible--he cared for the service he provided and I'd describe him as a positive "yes" person. Truely a delight While I'm happy to stay in a Motel 6, I'm comparing this Courtyard to other similar Marriotts and many basic details disrupted my family's experience. Examples: Huge empty parking lot, but have to pay $12/night ($21/night to use the parking garage). No (free) coffee downstairs--I can't remember the last time I was at a hotel that didn't have coffee. There was hot chocolate and cider packs in the lobby, but at any given time they were out or the hot water urn was empty. The coffee machine in the room lit
