Comfort Suites Florence I-95

Based off of positive reviews booked this Comfort inn. Don't know how reviews could be so wrong. Check-in was fine, room layout was good, but room was not as clean as it should be. While there were fresh towels and the sheets were changed, it became obvious after we were already settled in the room that they clearly hadn't vacuumed. Found two bottle caps and part of a chip on the window side of the bed. Also, next morning when going to take a shower found an old bar of soap still in there, so thinking the shower wasn't cleaned either. On top of the lack of cleaning the ac unit was very noisy. Fortunately weather was nice enough we didn't need it. Overall recommend picking one of the other hotels nearby to stay. Certainly can't recommend this one. The rooms were clean and the hotel is located so it's easy on and off I-95. We felt safe in the parking lot after dark. The only issue we had was the breakfast wasn't very good. They said they ran out of hard boiled eggs and the scrambled eggs were always low or out when we tried to get some even though they had an empty heating tray that they could have made more. Also no meat of any kind. Breakfast was disappointing which was surprising seeing how the hotel was nice.

The 1st problem was no toilet paper in the room, and we had to go to the front desk. The 2nd was that the security bolt on the door was missing! The 3rd and most important was we saw two roaches on the table near the tv. Very unsettling! At breakfast, the egg warmer had no handle to lift. On leaving, I was hoping to see someone at the front desk-there was no one to discuss these concerns. We have been coming to this hotel for many years and thinking it needs a complete renovation. It definitely does and also fumigation! Room 212

I don’t know when all those excellent reviews were written, but it wasn’t this year. This hotel is old! And not maintained well. The floors are filthy, our bathroom floor moves (the titles are broken), the shower is pitiful, the bathtubs have been patched and not well, the people who work here are not great and not friendly, the furniture is old and saggy. I will say the beds are still comfortable. they need to knock down the price they charge for this hotel per night by quite a bit. Skip this hotel.

I am typically completely satisfied with my stays in this hotel. This particular stay there were housekeeping issues with my room. I was exhausted so I didn’t bother to complain. I just cleaned these things up myself. There was a hand towel thrown over the tissue box. I presume it was used. There was a dirty black partial handprint on the toilet lid. The refrigerator had a large amount of spilled liquid that appeared to be chocolate milk.
