Candlewood Suites Norfolk Airport by IHG

We have been IHG loyalists for 20+ years. This is the nastiest, dirtiest hotel we have ever stayed in. People openly smoking in their rooms, THC and cigarettes. Whole 3rd floor reeked. Room was so unbelievably dirty: dried food on the fridge door and walls. No soap in shower. Broken lamps, lights that didn’t work. No plug in tub. Dirty handprints and sketchy smears on the walls. Room was large and well equipped for a long stay. Everything worked and it was cleaned before arrival. The front desk was friendly, fast and professional. They also have a great gym and outdoor grilling area. It’s not a hotel I would stay in for a few nights on vacation with my family but I will request it with through my company for work out of town.

Front desk was great. The room was disgusting. The bed frame was covered with ripped fabric and under the bed there was ripped fabric and candy wrappers and Sundays Wendy's wrappers. There was mold around the tub and the toilet and fan were rusted. No phone and very limited toilet tissue. No batteries in the TV remote. Definitely would not recommend.

My husband and I love lodging at the Candlewood Suites whenever we are in town. The prime location of the hotel makes it easy to move around. Our family was in town on this visit to memorialize our loved one. The front desk associates were all professional and provided friendly customer service. A special shoutout to Marcus who was absolutely phenomenal - attentive and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. From the moment we checked in, he was genuinely welcoming and accommodating to our every need, making us feel truly valued as guests. When we encountered a few issues with our initial room, the hotel was almost completely booked, but Marcus was able to relocate us to another room on the fifth floor, which was perfect. Lets see where to start. I guess ill start with the best thing about this place is the location. Being that there are grocery stores, gas stations and food spots all around being the best thing about my stay here. But my overall stay has been abysmal. For one my in room tv did not work the entire stay. The front desk guy came to reset and told me to call the front desk if it didnt work and lo and behold the phone doesn't work either. But its fine I can handle not being able to watch tv I always have a back up but one thing I cannot plan for is the water being shut off for an estimate of 9 hours.
