American Inn

I stayed here one night when there was a big event going on downtown. The big name hotels near the capitol building were upwards of $400. This place was $88. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. The good: Comfy bed, no weird smells, centrally located, friendly and flexible staff. The bad: Even though I stayed in a remodeled room, it was very rough around the edges. Missing paint, scratched furnishings, finicky entry door. It's on a major street with lots of traffic, so noise can be an issue. Bring earplugs. It wasn't very clean. There was urine on the toilet seat from the previous occupant, hair on the bathroom floor, and a used shampoo packet in the shower. The TV remote was dirty. The bathroom fan vent was covered in what looked like a year's worth of dust.

Previous reviews said the rooms were being renovated. I didn’t get one of those. It was very rough, and not cleaned well. Location is great though.

They have recently remodeled and are still renovating, so while some things may look old, they still work, and you are getting what you pay for! There is a mandatory cash $20 deposit to ensure you aren’t bringing undeclared guests over, but it is returned to you without issue if you follow their rules. The lady working the counter is super nice!

Room smelled like mold. Told my family to just come in after our car broke down and they'd take care of us. But, then they rented out the room. We were supposed to have two beds. But, only got one and I ended up sleeping on the floor. Was supposed to be the cheap motel but once all the extra fees were added ended up paying more than the other motels. Honestly not only wouldn't recommend but with the smell of mold am unsure if living conditions are even safe.

This business canceled my reservation for supposedly construction and remodeling throughout the period I had scheduled. And now is charging twice as much for the same period! I hope your business goes as well as Titanic went.
