Aloft Chapel Hill

One night stay while in Chapel Hill for a class. Convenient location to UNC campus. |Room was clean and very comfortable bed and bedding. Had an amazing nights sleep. The best water pressure I've ever experienced. |Easy check in process.

BEWARE. This hotel is Lacking most things that make a stay convenient and enjoyable: Guest parking-lacking; working elevators-lacking; coffee in hotel-lacking; choice of bed type-lacking; ease of access to front door to get a car in for pick-up and or drop off-lacking. (We had to drag our luggage across a grassed dog park stepping over dog piles just to get to our car parked in street parking) Will choose to stay elsewhere in Chapel Hill and will never stay in Aloft again.

Positive: Very convenient location for visiting campus, and right next to a Fresh Market. Our room was clean. Negative: Our room was on a low floor facing a very busy road. Even with soundproof windows it was still quite loud. The room was fine, but the rest of the hotel was in poor repair (pool was pretty gross, multiple leaks in lobby and hall, elevator barely worked).

We are staying here because our young daughter has an early morning procedure at UNC Children’s hospital. We arrived later in the evening and yet to have dinner. The bartender Derrick (not sure if the name is spelled correctly) invited us to sit with our daughter and recommended a nearby pizza place. But it just wasn’t the recommendation….we placed our order and he offered to pick it up for us and bring it back to the hotel, and did so as soon as we got the notification that it was ready. He was so friendly and welcoming and even made her a fresh fruit smoothie (when one tumbled to the ground, he made another!). He went above and beyond and his customer service skills are admirable! Thank you so much, we appreciate you making our stay here, awesome!

Not worth near the price, felt like a cheap motel. And it isn't cheap! I stayed on the 5th floor, and there were a lot of cosmetic issues that were very noticeable when you first entered the room. The ceiling had water damage and looked very run down, the wall paper was peeling, the carpet felt oily under your feet (made me not want to walk barefoot in the room), and the AC unit in the room was sub par. Then I pulled back the sheets, which were more "pulled" than I have ever experienced at a hotel, and there was a hair right away on the sheets. This actually wasn't a huge deal because I understand it happens, but then I ended up finding multiple more. The mattress and pillows were fine. Marshall speaker in the room was very unnecessary and took up a lot of space on the only bedside table.
