AC Hotel Chapel Hill Downtown

We had not been to Chapel Hill. Saw a write up in a magazine, and decided to visit as we were already in North Carolina. The hotel is beautiful and modern in a great downtown location. I especially want to recognize Renee who was the Front Desk attendant. She was so nice, and helpful. Our room was very pretty with a great walk in shower….plenty of towels as well. We were a little disappointed in the shopping downtown…most everything caters to UNC. There were 2 negatives. The Lobby Bar was expensive, and the bartender gave very little brandy. The breakfast was $16 per person and was advertised as a breakfast buffet. Very limited food on this “buffet”….not worth the price…just a convenience.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The GM is great! Wonderful place to stay in a perfect location with access to restaurants and the university. Clean rooms. Good value.

The location is fantastic. The underground parking is convenient, but even in a relatively small car, we had to back up to turn tight corners. The sachets at the elevator were a nice touch. The beds sleep fine and the gym is ok. The view of a fence a few feet from the window wasn’t pretty but the window lets in enough light. On the other hand, the light brown liquid served at breakfast is to coffee what flavored water is to fruit juice. Perhaps it is sometimes ok? We didn’t go back after seeing it once. Wallpaper damage needs repairing and floors need vacuuming. The meager toiletries provided didn’t include shampoo or conditioner. It took two calls to get the room safe opened, and the tech lectured us on forgetting our code even though the safe was locked when we checked in moments before

Cute hotel with a nicely styled room. However, I can’t give it a full five-star review. At this price point, I feel daily housekeeping should be offered rather than service every other day. During my stay, one of the elevators was out of order, which led to long wait times since only one elevator was available. The front desk staff were kind at check-in.

The room was clean and comfortable however the hotel had large scent machines outside the elevators in the lobby. The scent machines gave off a very strong smell and were awful. Why did they need to put these machines there? Were they trying to cover up some other smell? My family and I found those scent machines very offensive. Also, the breakfast buffet was not replenished so they were always out of food and the tables were not cleaned.
