The Westin Portland Harborview

We've stayed at the Westin a number of times and really enjoy the hotel and it's location. Our most recent stay was on the 10th floor with a nice room, view and the most wonderful shower. The holiday lights were still up in the little park next door and were lovely to see from our windows. The front desk were very welcoming and helpful. By choice, we didn't have our room serviced daily, but the housekeeping staff were very accommodating in providing anything we needed. We didn't have time to visit the bar on the 15th floor, but did on our last trip; the view is lovely and the drinks/food very good. The Westin is well located in the center of the city, close to the harbor, and built on a small hill, so the view of the harbor is quite nice. The building is a red-brick, utilitarian construct, not much to look at. Inside, it is modern, spacious and well maintained. There is not much front door service, since the few staffers double up as valet parkers, so much of the time there is nobody at the front door. We got no help with our luggage, but there are carts travelers can use to help carry their suitcases to the room. The hotel is generally understaffed, also noted in the restaurant and bar. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I was there for an extended stay due to a local work assignment. All departments met excellent expectations. The breakfast was hot and fresh met with friendly staff and management. The hotel coffee shop staff were friendly and inviting very early in the morning. You have your choice of dining options. For a light snack and crafted cocktails, Top of the East, was a must. The staff were knowledgeable and easy to talk to. They don’t mind spending extra time talking to you about local attractions. The view was relaxing, as you can see all of Portland. The restaurant on the lobby floor, C2, offers more hearty meals and a happy hour that can’t be beat. I recommend the chicken piccata and any of the burgers. The room was comfortable and I rested very well

Loved this hotel! Based on our experience we will plan on staying at Westin’s in other cities we visit. Very dog friendly—offered us dog beds and bowls. The pet rooms are restricted to certain floors so it’s good to let them know ahead of time if you are bringing pets. The gym was fantastic—they had everything you could ask for. The restaurant had a restaurant and coffee shop on the ground floor and restaurant/rooftop bar on the top floor. Great location with plenty of restaurants around. They offer a discount to the parking garage next door and also offer valet which we used since it was just a few dollars more—it was so convenient and they were very friendly
