Longfellow Hotel, an SLH Hotel

We unexpectedly needed overnight accommodations, being from out of town, I googled hotels in the area and saw the pictures of this one and wanted to stay here, although it was more expensive than we would normally choose we were not disappointed. The furnishings in the entire hotel are classic and just gorgeous. The bed was very comfortable and clothed in a beautifully hand spun lambswool blanket that can be purchased, along with many other items that you get to enjoy in your room, if you have very deep pockets. The only thing about the room that I really disliked was the ice cold marble tile floors in the bathroom. With it being in the teens outside this was a very unwelcome surprise. Great boutique hotel in Portland. My spouse uses a walker or wheelchair and she was able to get around fine. We were in an ADA compliant room and there was adequate space to maneuver around. Walk in shower was nice as well. We grabbed some light dinner and a drink downstairs and ate in one night. Limited food selection but it was well prepared and tasty. Staff was very attentive and courteous. Will come back!

We loved our stay at the Longfellow in the Grand Standard Room with Back Cove Views. The entire experience was elegant and comfortable with great attention to detail from the high quality mattress and organic bedding to the walk-in rainfall shower. A chaise lounge and large window provided amazing views. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. They gave us an excellent recommendation for a Thai restaurant within walking distance, and they were also happy to help me when I needed to have an ice pack frozen (I was recovering from an injury). After dinner, we enjoyed creative cocktails at the Five of Clubs bar. In the morning we had a great breakfast at the Twinflower Cafe. The valet service was professional, prompt, and courteous. The Longfellow Hotel delivered some of the best service I’ve experienced anywhere — genuinely Four Seasons–level quality right in Portland, Maine. From the moment I arrived, the staff set the tone with a warm, personal touch. They spent real time during orientation, making sure I felt welcomed and fully taken care of, and their attentiveness continued throughout my stay. The rooms are beautifully designed and extremely comfortable, and the food is excellent — far better than what you’d expect at this price point. For luxury-level hospitality at a reasonable rate, the Longfellow Hotel is a standout. I’ll definitely be returning.

Couldn't have picked a better place to stay for my first time in Maine. I came to Portland during their off season to relax (& eat lots of seafood) so everywhere was pretty quiet & I loved that. I'm used to bougie hotels in big cities so the thought of looking for a hotel in a small town like Portland made me a bit nervous but I'm soooo happy I found Longfellow. It's the perfect blend of traditional & contemporary design, felt like a big warm hug!!! 🫂 The rooms and bathrooms are BIG, and they come with big soft robes which I loooove.
