I thought I did a pretty good job of researching hotels for our Portland long weekend. We were looking for a nice boutique place, not the typical Marriott style hotel that I had been used to for my 40 year career on the road. The Francis looked like our target place. I spoke to the staff twice before our arrival and Magdelena was very helpful. Personable and professional. When we arrived we were a bit underwhelmed. Our Bramhall suite on the 1st floor was clean with a modern tiled bathroom from the 2020’s. The rest of the room was 1987. No closet. King platform bed. I don’t want to be negative but we were underwhelmed. I would suggest looking at their other room types and styles. Most importantly, the staff was so accommodating and helpful.

I would give them more stars if I could! I have stayed here twice now and it keeps getting better! it is the perfect mix of historic house charm with boutique hotel! My most recent stay was part of my wedding weekend in Portland, my family and friends all stayed at the hotel as well. Everybody had such a good time and we’re so thankful for the amazing staff at The Francis. The staff went above and beyond! They were so welcoming and personable and made us feel at home. As it was all friends and family staying there I got to visit inside many of the rooms. They were all beautiful, clean and well decorated! We slept on our bed for six nights and had amazing sleep, a very comfortable mattress! All the small touches they add are really special. If you are considering using the Francis or the L

We spent two nights at The Francis in Portland, ME. in the West End/Parkside area. This is a boutique hotel with only 15 rooms and is a restored former mansion. It is also it is on the National Park Service's Registry of Historic Places. On October 22, we joined a gathering directly across the street at the Five of Clubs (lounge in the Francis sister property The Longfellow) for a celebration of the iconic Seth Thomas clock outside The Francis and heard remarks from hotels, and local representatives of the Maine Historical Society and Greater Portland Landmarks. It really is a beautiful landmark.||Our room was a Terrace King which had great views and we were able to sit out for bit having beverages. We found that the bed was very comfortable and both got great sleep! While it seemed a busy

The Francis Hotel is a really very good place to stay, especially considering the price. From the moment you step inside, it makes you feel at home and helps you settle into the local vibes. The interior is warm, cozy and very typical, which adds a lot of character to the overall experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The products provided in the room are of good quality and pleasantly scented! A nice extra touch is the availability of hot chocolate, which makes the stay even more enjoyable.

This hotel is a wonderful experience if you are looking to book a great place for a great price! I stayed here two nights - the first I booked on the spot after realizing I had mixed up dates and didn’t have a room booked for night one and the second I booked after returning back to the Francis when my new hotel was less than expected. Both experiences were met with patience and kindness. The check in experience is personalized and includes breakfast vouchers and a glass of wine! The rooms and hotel are historic and have wonderful charming touches! I will recommend this experience to anyone coming through Portland!
