The Dewey By The Lenox Collection

This was one of the worst lodging experiences we’ve ever encountered. This is NOT a three-star hotel. Basic maintenance is not being performed, room was average at best, shower amenities were not filled, and there was no one around. There was no breakfast onsite - unless you wanted to drive to the Constance. We’ve had far better Hotel/B&B stays at a fraction of the cost.

This was one of the worst lodging experiences we’ve ever encountered. The “Standard Queen” looks beautiful on the website, but the only commonality for “Room 6” was the wall color. We made our plans months ago through AMEX Travel and paid ($$$) in advance. Disappointingly, it was not what was advertised. From check-in to check-out there was a lot left to be desired. It does not appear that they’re even performing basic maintenance and Servicing. The Shower amenities were empty, the recent Daikin Heat Pump was inoperable, and the added window AC unit was sealed with tape and a washcloth. There was no breakfast in the B&B - unless you wanted to drive down the road to the Constance. The shower stall floor was stained by the Amenities caddy and the bathroom sink did not drain properly. Rooms are on the second and third floors and no elevator. Our standard king on the second floor did not have an en suite bathroom. Needed to go across the hall to the toilet. The shower stall was very small and the overhead rainfall shower head was very big. The weekend breakfast buffet about what you would find at a low-cost chain motel. That said, the coffee was very tasty and access to Tanglewood was simple.

The Dewey Hotel is absolutely not an upscale B&B. We needed to check in at Hotel Constance and then drive to Hotel Dewey. The price was high (>$650) for a third floor room accessed via two flights of narrow, steep stairs that would be challenging to navigate with large luggage and perhaps calamitous in an emergency. The room was basic with a small window. the bath fine. The wall mounted HVAC unit worked reasonably well until it started blowing hot air at 2:00 AM. The breakfast is fine (hard boiled egg, yogurt, cereal, bagels/pastry and sliced fruit. the napkins are paper towels. We will not return and cannot recommend.

Lovely old house, great bathroom, and comfortable bed, even if noisy when you climb in! Very clean. ||But if you stay here, you may want to ask questions about the location of your room if you are concerned about stairs. It's important to ask how many flights of stairs you need to climb, as what was pictured in the description is a room with a four poster bed, which I would have thought was up one flight of stairs, at the most. We had to go up 2 narrow, steep flights of stairs to the top floor, getting all of our luggage up the stairs, as there is no staff on site to assist. I don't care about the poster bed, but would never have booked this room had I known where it was located. ||There are no luggage racks, so our suitcases are on the floor. 4 hangers and one drawer in a chest.
