The Amaya

Everything about our experience at The Amaya far exceeded expectations. The room/bed was comfortable and felt luxurious. The service was beyond amazing. I mentioned at check in that we were there for our anniversary and when we went to dinner we came back to candles and rose petals in our room with a hand written happy anniversary note. Check in and out was seamless and simple. When traveling we have been striving to support more local businesses rather than chains and this experience solidified our choice to do so. Everything about this experience fundamentally changed my future expectations for the better. If you have a chance to stay here, I HIGHLY recommend it and if I could give more than 5 stars I absolutely would.

Rooms comparable to a typical budget hotel. The bathroom was the real downside: bathroom was closet-like, requiring small size or agility to open and close the door without standing in the shower. The door itself would not even latch, let alone lock. The shower came complete with used soap and washcloth from a previous occupant. Water gets to pretty warm, but never made it to hot (which is disappointing to anyone who prefers hot water for shaving)

Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room, needed more hooks for towels, etc. Possibly have two chairs for couples to sit at the table. Nice walk in shower but water was cold on the second day. Very zen, I would consider adding a table top water fountain for ambiance. Enjoyed the healthy snacks / drinks. Would have been nice to have a small fridge for leftovers after dinner at the local restaurants.

Amazing experience at The Amaya! They were attentive and caring, the modern refurbishment was done well. The entrance and room felt calm. Every request I made for a special night was carried out perfectly, including room service! The only "negative" I would add is the fence and outside of the hotel felt like a construction area. The fence is a good addition because the area surrounding the hotel is a bit of an eyesore. That's why the location is not 5 Star.

Staff was very nice and helpful. They removed the carpet and put hard floors which is nice; Just need to add a rug at the entrance of the room so you don't track floors up when it snows. Also maybe better heat the room was cold all night. Very clean and comfy your room door also notifies you when its not shut all the way by beeping. Definitely would recommend. Gave the room a 3 stars because of the heat
