Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Fort Wayne Southwest

After moving to this hotel from leaving the Best Western early due to safety concerns, I'm happy to report this place is much better. They allowed me to check in early so I could put my food in the refrigerator. The rooms are spacious enough. I'm in the first room from the lobby. There was a group of people gathered there talking and it was rather loud. But, it was not that loud in my room, even though the lobby was only about 75 feet from my room. It was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.

As with most Marriott properties |, the front desk staff is always so nice and accommodating. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good. The reason for the 3 evaluation is the WiFi access in the room. Even after speaking with their IT helpdesk, the internet access, both WiFi and cellular was non-existent. I had to work in the common area instead of in my room.

I stayed at this location in the summer and would have easily given it four stars. Unfortunately, when I stayed there this week, my experience was completely different. First, when checking in/out, I had to wait a good 15 minutes for someone to show up to the desk. My biggest complaint, however, was the room. The one I had last time was great but this time, polar opposite. The sheets and curtains had many stains. The fridge wasn’t working, floor was dirty, wall were banged up, and the shower had lots of black and pink mold. Not the quality I would come to expect from Marriott. I’ll be traveling to the same area multiple times over the next couple months and I will not be staying here again. Too inconsistent for me to spend my money at.

Positive: Staff is incredibly nice, very accommodating and willing to help with what you need. Breakfast was awesome, and the woman attending it was super friendly and helpful. Negative: The only thing I the cleanliness of the room. We removed the blanket from the bed during the second night, and found a fake eyelash. There were numerous stains on the mattress pad under the sheets. And a white substance was splattered on the headboard.

I have stayed here multiple times with little to no issues, but this past time was bad enough that I don’t think we will be back. I checked in online, but wanted to stop at the front desk upon arrival for a room key for my husband. I waited for several minutes and said hello in case someone was back in the office- I wasn’t able to find anyone and no sign was at the front indicating that they had stepped out. We didn’t get back to our room until late that night and didn’t discover any issues immediately. The next morning, I woke up to a weird smell and found ramen noodles in the air conditioner. My husband also noticed vice grips holding the door mechanism together. This was probably the worst room I’ve ever stayed in at a Marriott property.
