SpringHill Suites by Marriott Fort Wayne Southwest

The hotel is new and clean and probably would be great for an individual or couple for a brief stay, but some design flaws made it less than ideal for our family of 4. We spent two nights in a double queen room that also had a 3-way sofa (seating, daybed, and trundle bed). The design of the room has some nice features, such as a bar area at the door where the mini-fridge and microwave are and a nice-sized desk dividing the sitting area from the two beds. I would have appreciated having a second sink at the bar area. The mini fridge had no freezer area but ironically froze (and ruined) the fresh vegetables we brought for snacks. I will not stay here again. We arrived in the afternoon after a relatively small snow storm the night before. The parking lot has not been treated at all. The temperatures had lowered since the snow and the entire surface of the parking lot was extremely hazardous and slippery. I brought this to management attention twice, but nothing happened until early the next morning. The next day we used the fitness room. While the room was well equipped, it had literally no heat. I had to wait at the front desk for an indifferent clerk (with AirPods) to show up from the back room. She did send someone from housekeeping to start the heat, but the heat never came on. Later, I took a shower with lukewarm water. This facility and the adjoining Fairfield Inn clearly suffer from poor management.

Good location for business and spacious rooms, close to restautants

I was less than impressed with a lot of the reviews on some of the higher rated places in Fort Wayne. I decided to research newest hotels in the city and stumbled across this one. Rolled the dice, hoping that the newness would equal a nice place to stay. I was definitely not disappointed!||Rooms were very nice with high ceilings and lots of space, all very modernly decorated. Bed was comfortable and had no issues with noise from other guests. The location of this hotel was great as it is not far from the interstate and in a nice part of town. There are a number of restaurants and stores within a short drive of the hotel. ||If I had to come up with any negatives, I can think of only two. The hotel is new and pretty. Easy to park, front desk help was friendly. Our room had two queen beds and it was beautiful and spacious, but the cleanliness was questionable… The shower drain was clogged and drained very slowly so it didn’t surprise me to find hair in the tub. The mirror looked like it had been cleaned with a dirty rag it was so streaky. Black crumbs (looked like chocolate maybe?) were all over the bedspread. Found a bag of teddy grahams in the drawer. Maybe that is a new gift for guests, but I’m guessing the drawer wasn’t checked when the room was “cleaned”. The design of the room was beautiful, just wish it had been cleaned a little more thoroughly.
