This weekend we camped at MacKerricher State Park’s Surfwood Campground, site #123. The weather couldn’t have been better—sunny days and mild nights made it a comfortable stay. The ocean was calm during our visit, so we missed out on the usual crashing waves that you can often hear from camp, but the setting was still peaceful. The campground is well kept, and the sites here are large compared to many other parks. At site #123, we had plenty of room for our RV and Jeep, plus a fire pit and picnic table. You don’t feel packed in, which makes it easy to relax and enjoy the coastal surroundings. From the site you can catch glimpses of the ocean through the trees, and the short walk to the bluffs gives you incredible views of the coastline. The photos show some of the highlights—our campsite
This was our first time staying at this campground. We stayed 2 nights and almost instantly it was put on our favorite list to go back to. Lots of trees and greenery to add privacy to almost every site. Brand new, clean updated token showers and bathrooms. The beach is right across the road with perfect views of the sunrise or sunset. Smooth walking paths along the rocky water edge lead to several different lookout points. Highly recommend for any type of single, couple or family.
Great place for kids to explore the ocean creatures. So much things to find and it keeps the kids entertained while learning. We stayed here for long durations and would keep coming back because we always found something new. Make sure you look at tide weather, best time to come are during low tide. There is lot of parking and public restrooms. But no outside water available to wash feet or hands from all the sand.
Great campground with the beach just across from it. Brand new showers and bathrooms (4) at the camp area. Showers take tokens which can be purchased at the kiosk. They’ll buy back unused token. Would definitely stay again.
Had a great time at Surfwood Campgrounds. Just a short walk to the beach. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Easy to find and get to. Good place to bring the family beach camping.
