Sonesta Select Newark Christiana Mall

We recently stayed at Sonesta Select Newark Christiana Mall and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. From the moment we checked in, our room did not have hot water. We immediately notified the front desk, and maintenance attempted to “reset the water,” but the issue was never resolved. We were never proactively offered another room so we could shower or use basic amenities. We went to bed hoping the issue would be fixed by morning. It wasn’t. After continued complaints and still no hot water, we ultimately had to leave and book another hotel. When we spoke with the General Manager, Amy Klesaris, we were told we would only receive a half refund. Considering we were unable to use a fundamental amenity like hot water, that is unacceptable. Do not stay here during renovations! It is noisy, dirty, the restaurant is closed, the pool is left open without security. The staff at the hotel is doing the best it can but this place should be closed until renovations are completed. Very disappointed!

This hotel is disgusting. The rooms are nasty. There were stains on the sofa in the room, the mattress had stains on it. The bathroom had what appeared to be dry blood on the walls. The substance on the walls was red. There was black hair all on the floor in the bathroom and in the shower. There was what appeared to be black mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. It was in the corners of the ceiling and was black dots. There was dust all on the picture frames on the wall, dust on the back of the TV. The carpet in the halls and room are disgusting. It’s clear this place has no housekeeping. Why would the manager think it’s ok to allow guest to stay in a room with stains on the sofa. What are the stains? Is it soda? Is it a previous guest body fluid? What is the brown stain on the mattress? No

Not great for the price. I was in adjoining king & double suites, for reference. Both rooms are poorly designed and maintained, and management dgaf. Check-in took about 45 mins because they'd helpfully deleted my reservation, and apparently separate rooms set up entirely separate reservations to delete, which is … certainly a decision somebody made. My rooms were at the end of the first floor hallway, right next to a door out to the parking lot, but every time I entered I was forced to traverse the entire (carpeted, so dirty, high-friction) U shape of the hotel because management won't let you key into the outside doors, without exception. (Positively endemic across the industry.) —So people just prop the doors on their way out, so any whiff of "security" offered by keeping them locked i

I stayed at this hotel for one night for work. The place was quiet, which was a plus. However, the swimming pool was not heated, and the air conditioning in the room was not working. I spent a very cold night at the hotel. Additionally, the hallways between the rooms were not clean. Overall, it is a quiet place, but not the best option in the area.
