Sonesta ES Suites Wilmington - Newark

I was very pleased with the photos and how close it was to the interstate. The room was spacious like the ones ive stayed at while traveling. The negatives were as followed 1. Dirty oven bottom 2. Light in oven and microwave didnt work 3. There were burn stains all over the carpet and a large one at the door by the bathroom 4. The hot water for showering for 2 people barely lasted 5. To add to rhe frustration of all of delaware..this state and its businesses seems to not care to shovel parkinglots and sidewalks accurately . It was unsafe and I had to book my mothers stay elsewhere as her wheelchair couldn't access due to the poorly shoveled walkways and car spaces!!!

Positive: Its convenient to where I need to be when I come to the East Coast. Having a full kitchen is an added bonus and usually why I stay here. Negative: Rooms are starting to get out dated. Stains & burn marks on the carpet, rooms smell of cigs & weed, although I don't blame the hotel because people do not follow the rules. Rooms aren't fully stocked & front desks acts like I'm trying to get over on them.

11/13/25|When we arrived at 8pm to check in, we were told that the hotel didn’t have hot water. We were told that we could still check in and if our room in fact didn’t have hot water, we could leave. We asked if one of the front desk workers could go up to the room that was reserved for us to determine if there was hot water. It turns out that the room didn’t have hot water. The front desk staff didn’t have any answers to if there were repairs being done or if there was a timeline of when the hot water would be working again. The customer services was horrible. It would have been appreciated if we had received a phone call prior to walking in the hotel front door about the lack of hot water. Thankfully after a quick search, we were able to find a different hotel.

Staff is SO friendly and rooms are very big. However, parts of the room were just simply not clean and it affects the overall feeling within the room. And although my room was ready, I had to pay a $30 check-in early fee (at 1pm) and they also charge $5 for parking. Just a heads up on unexpected charges you may pay. I'm not sure I would stay here again.

The rooms are not as clean as I would like them to be. It seems like the rooms were not thoroughly cleaned before I went in. There was hair in the shower, and lint all around the floor, and the surfaces were pretty dusty. Overall, the rooms look nice. The decorations are attractive, and the layouts of the rooms are pretty cool. A great place to bring your family, if only they could thoroughly clean the rooms before you check in.
