Residence Inn by Marriott Secaucus Meadowlands

The Residence Inn in Secaucus was wonderful. I would like to give a special shout-out to Ms. Gayle—her communication was always professional and reliable. After we checked out, we realized we had forgotten some of our Christmas gifts in the room. I called her, and she kindly reactivated our room key so we could retrieve them.||The location felt very safe. We normally stay in NYC, but this time we traveled with our pets, and this hotel was perfect—spacious and comfortable, with enough room for our pets to walk around. Keep in mind it is around 40 minutes with traffic with Lyft cost around $50 each way. ||The only improvement I would suggest is regarding the breakfast station. Disappointing Service at the Front Desk I am writing this to highlight a disappointing interaction I had with the front desk staff, specifically Henry. As someone who works in the hospitality industry myself, I was taken aback by his tone and lack of professional manner. On February 8th, around 11:45pm. I stopped by the desk to see if the market had toothpaste available. Henry informed me they did not, but provided a small, single-use packet. When I realized it was only enough for one person and politely asked for a second one (as there are two guests in my room), he responded with an audible sense of annoyance. He remarked that I "should have asked for two from the beginning," as if I were expected to know the exact size of the packet he was handing me before seeing it. Instead of a he

The single worst stay we have ever had in a hotel!!! In the parking lot, in the evenings specifically, you can smell marijuana. In the lobby, you can smell marijuana, in the elevator, specifically the left side one, again the smell of marijuana. Entire floors reek of the smell. We wish we saw the reviews before we arrived. There is no exaggeration in how foul and persistent the smell is. Your room is not safe as it wafts from the hallways, under and around your door into your living space. We attempted to line the bottom of the door with towels to try and keep the smells from coming it but it was basically useless. The hotel staff know this is an issue and do nothing to address it. It is impossible for all these reviews to just be a coincidence or isolated incident.

Great location, 15 mins drive to midtown without traffic! Great check in staff, and free EV charging is a game changer! Also walking distance to a whole host of great restaurants! Terrific Marriott property all around!

Positive: Location. It has an excellent choice of nearby restaurants. Negative: The room smelled like humidity and there where silverfish insects in the carpet and counters. I felt so bad because I stood here a few years ago and it was not like this. Now it?s old and they have not kept up with the maintenance.
