Residence Inn by Marriott Newport Middletown

Clean hotel that had exactly what we were looking for! We travel as a family of 5 and so it is sometimes difficult to find a room that will fit all of us comfortably. We got the 2 bedroom suite and were not disappointed - 2 bedrooms each with their own bathroom, a sofa in a separate living space, and a kitchen area for those that like to cook while away. The hotel is just outside of Newport and the area has a quieter vibe. Restaurants, grocery stores, and a CVS are all within walking distance. Hotel staff were both friendly and accommodating! There is a free continental breakfast included; it was… ok. The only items worth trying are the make your own waffles or toasting a bagel - The eggs looked and tasted fake (very weird texture), and the bacon was thinner than paper. Not complaini

Positive: Spacious room Negative: In a beach area and the rooms do not get cleaned daily. There is sand and with kids it inevitability gets tracked in. Also, towels should be checked on to see if more are needed. Pull out couch had sheet and fitted sheet only had to request blankets

This Residence Inn is dilapidated, deteriorating & depressing. Marriott should have closed it for remodeling years ago. From the stains on the threadbare dirty carpets, junkyard banged up furniture, to towel racks & tissue holders falling off the walls, water pipes bursting & water shutoffs, this Residence Inn is a stain on the Marriott Brand name! My husband and I stay almost exclusively @ Marriott Residence Inns in a 2 bedroom suite as we travel from MA to FL up & down the coast each year & we expect the best from Marriott.

I think this hotel need some major cleaning. Especially the rugs. As far as having a kitchen area it does help if you want to reheat something or have a refrigerator to put your items in. Have a couple of questions we asked the front desk one was not able to help out with the iPad another girl said other than shopping and visiting The Mansions there was not much else to do. Fortunately the travel information area was opened today and we picked up a lot of information. Would I recommend this hotel? There are plenty of other places around to stay at. I will let my travel agent know about my feelings on this hotel.

Been here 32 days and another 14 to go while waiting for our Winter Lease to start up. Can't say being in a hotel for 46 days with a toddler and infant is every awesome, but it has been great so far. Breakfast is nice. Coffee is good. Decent parking. I'd recommend and would stay again (and we ARE when our winter lease ends in May for the final 12 days of War College). :) 6 minutes to Gate 1
