Howard Johnson by Wyndham Middletown Newport Area

Everything about this hotel was a 10/10 The rooms were magnificent and very, very clean, and the breakfast buffet was quite delicious for a hotel breakfast ! Bonus points The Applebee’s is connected right to the hotel so you don’t even need to go outside to get some lunch/dinner! Very convenient, and we got 10% off Our dinner bill because we are a hotel guest. I will ABSOLUTELY be returning!

Incredible stay for the value. This hotel pays attention to detail and it shows. Lobby is beautiful with 24 hour coffee available, modern feel and lovely fireplace. Rooms were clean and updated. I liked our 2nd floor room with a sloped ceiling and exposed beams, giving it a homey feel. Pool area was well maintained with heaters, making a winter swim enjoyable. Breakfast was above average for a free buffet. The location was excellent with a short drive to all the Newport attractions. Would definitely return. Excellent value!

The facility was well maintained and functional despite its obvious age. The pool was 85 degrees and the sauna quite relaxing. The breakfast was fresh and had variety of hot and cold items. The coffee was perfect and available at all times. Fresh fruits, yogurts, egg omelets, sausages, various toasts, bagels, English muffins, waffles, etc…all available. Very clean, nice presentation of food and kept up throughout the breakfast time being replenished and cleaned up from the customers. A big shoutout to the staff for their attention to details and hard work! Whatever they are getting paid they are worth more! We were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful our stay was at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Newport/Middletown. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The location is ideal—just a short drive to downtown Newport, the beaches, and local attractions, yet peaceful and quiet. The amenities truly stood out, especially the beautiful heated pool, sauna, and jacuzzi spa, which made our stay feel relaxing and indulgent. The free breakfast was another highlight, offering a fantastic assortment with something for everyone, including gluten-free options, avocado, eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, and fresh fruit, just to name a few. Positive: We were traveling with our dog... they have a wonderful dog-walk area with trails right next to the building where we stayed. Negative: The breakfast was ok, but we opted for the donut shop across the street on day 2.
