Red Roof Inn Bordentown – McGuire AFB

Positive: Location near Highway Negative: Bed was too noisy with metal base. Would not consider for family trip. More like motel. Good for single person and short stay while traveling.

I drove through the parking lot and all around the building trying to get a feel for the layout before I went in to check in. I have to COMPLETELY agree with the last review. I was a solo traveler and instantly did NOT feel safe at all. Was instantly very nervous and on guard and I don’t scare easily. It felt as if I was in the projects in the drug district. People hanging out everywhere on the sidewalks, parking lot , rooms. Did not feel safe at all and would have spent the night looking out the window to make sure my vehicle wasn’t being broken into. It was an immediate noticeable very bad vibe. I did go in to the lobby and more questionable clientele, waited forever to talk to someone, but also there was a sign saying they charge $10 per night for pets! Since when does Red Roof charge f

I walked inside alone asking to rent two rooms. The man upfront said yes they had availability. I said okay how much? He told me. I said okay i would like to book it. He said okay the rooms are upstairs. He then grabbed a lanyard with a KEY on it. Like a regular house key. He said “follow me i will show you your room” …. (Mind you i had not signed nothing, he did nothing in the computer, he did not take my money) so i said okay let me go get my husband… i came back inside. The man was shaking. He got everything printed asked for id i had my husband give his. The guy then gave us the door key card and sent us off on our own. Why not show us both where the room was ???? I probably wouldn't stay here again unless there were no better options. It was not particularly clean. There were stains on the sheets. The chair was stained and torn. I did not feel comfortable taking my shoes off or walking without slippers on. Everything could use some updating. The bed was not comfortable. My teenage daughter actually refused to use the shower and asked to sleep in the car, to which I told her absolutely not because the other problem with this hotel is that there appears to be some long-term residents and, despite arriving after midnight, there were multiple cars running in the parking lot, playing music and people smoking or doing drugs. Have stayed at this hotel a total of three times, as me and my family like to travel to NJ yearly and it is only a 20 minute drive from Six Flags. The rooms are always clean, and the staff is always helpful and kind, and they have a nice pool. Only thing I will say is I always run into the issue of our key card randomly not working and end up having to get a replacement at least twice a visit, but it’s a pretty easy fix. It is also very affordable, which is always nice. And they allow pets, which is perfect for people that like to bring their babies with them on trips!
