Quality Inn & Suites Charleston - Civic Center

Yes it is old. Yes there is one slow elevator. Yes the room furniture has seen better days. Yes the hallways are not posh. Yes there are few/no plugs to charge devices. Yes the entrance leaves a bit to be desired. But the room is clean and the bed is great (no bugs, I checked, please ignore 3 year old reviews). The staff was friendly. This is a fine no-frills place to stay at a reasonable price

WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN OR RECOMMENDED THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE!!! Not easily accessible for the disabled. Staff did NOT read my notes before check-in where I requested a room on the first floor or by an elevators. Staff actually told me I needed to call ahead for that request. What's the point in leaving a note then? First room was 709. As far away from elevators as possible and NOT on the first floor but seven 7 floors up. Second room was 702 which stayed at 62° for 45 minutes. We were then moved to room 802. A floor higher lol. At least it was warm. We heard the elevator ALL NIGHT. So much for a descent nights rest. Then at 7:45 the next morning the continental breakfast had 2 muffins, some scrambled eggs and 3 sausage links. NOT enough to feed 3 people. Staff did NOT offer to replenish

COMPLETELY TERRIBLE!!! 1 out of the 5 lights worked in the room, fake eyelashes were found in both queen sized beds, lampshade was destroyed, AC turned off after 20 minutes of being on and wouldnt turn on again, bathroom smelled like old dish towels, carpet was dirty, TV was broken and cables were torn out, and they only gave one pillow for each bed. Front desk was rude and messed up our reservation because it was her second day of working there. Vending machine was out of stock and you couldnt buy a drink. Only stayed a day here out of our week long trip and stayed at the Embassy Suites for the rest of our vacation.

The stay was fine. The Hotel and rooms were very clean. The breakfast was also pretty good. Only thing I didn't like was having to check a box on some paperwork saying the hotel wasn't responsible for any car damage which worried me a bit because of the homeless people sleeping around the hotel. Otherwise I had no problems I enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay here again.

Took three different rooms before we found one that was acceptable. The first room had a heater fan that was so loud, you could hear it down the hall. The second room had bad smoke detector that wasn't able to even be fixed with a new battery. The third room, while outdated and not in the best of condition, was at least decent enough to sleep in. The next morning, we went down to breakfast and it was as unsatisfactory as the as the room.
