Magnuson Hotel Jacksonville Downtown

The ladies I spoke to at check in and check out were very nice. The rooms themselves though were disgusting. We had dirty foot prints on the doors and walls. The shower looked like it had never been cleaned. The floors were so nasty and looked like they had never been moped. Our white socks were black after walking on the floor for just a little while. The outlets didn’t work so our phones never charged. The mattress covers were nasty. Linen had cigarette holes in them. The blankets hardly fit the beds. The curtain to the room didn’t even cover the window all the way, we had to tuck it into the door handle to cover the rest of the window. Room floor was very dirty. Saw that on the bottom of my socks. Didn't dare walk on it barefooted. Water from sink smelled like it was filtered through a sewerage plant, so I bought bottled water for drinking. Handle from the sink was loose, so you have to play with it a little to get your cold, hot, or warm water preference. One side of my bed sunk down like support was gone. Rust on front door and top of microwave (not inside it). Non-smoking room smelled like it had been smoked in. Area around steps leading to 2nd floor smelled like a skunk had sprayed it glands. That smell never went away during my 4-night stay. Outside trash can was overflowing. Steps leading to 2nd floor are deteriorating. Outside lighting is low, so you have to be careful even walking up & down the stairs in the dark

Hands down, the single rudest, most unpleasant experience I've ever had at a hotel. After traveling many, many hours (and booking a room well in advance) they first tried to double charge us for TWO rooms! When we told them we only paid for one, they went ahead & canceled BOTH rooms -- over our protests -- right on the July 4 weekend!! (Fortunately, we found a better, cleaner & $50 cheaper room at Hampton Inn. But we ABSOLUTELY could've been stranded by their lack of professionalism.)||The manager wasn't even on-property to help us (never once saw him) & the "lady" in charge of the Front Desk was rude, insulting & made us wait while she sat outside & sucked down her cigarettes lol.||I'll never go back. Worst cat fish of my life. Most of the photos are not of the hotel. This place is in significantly worse shape then advertised. My shower was full of mold, i found mold in my apple juice at breakfast. Pretty sure i need a tetanus shot after staying there. The only plus sides were that the staff was lovely. Both women i interacted with at the front desk were very sweet. And the bar next door to the hotel is a hidden gem, if im ever in the city again i will stop there for food and drinks.
