Hyatt Place Sumter / Downtown

The hotel is impeccably maintained; despite being seven years old, it feels brand new. Everything was spotless, and the breakfast was excellent. As a Globalist member, I appreciated the late checkout and the two bottles of water provided daily. I requested and was given 3M earplugs, which were far superior to generic ones from other hotels. The only minor drawback was an unexpected visit from housekeeping on the morning of our departure.

Positive: Nothing Negative: It was filthy. It’s old and needs to be renovated. Mold in the iron, dirt on the walls. Water would stay in the shower while bathing. This shouldn’t have the “Hyatt” name behind it. Especially for the price they are charging. It should be a motel.

This is a very nice hotel in a pleasant area. We've stayed here several times on our way down to Florida. The customer service in particular is very personable and attentive. However, the new charge for breakfast is greatly disappointing as an added cost, and it will likely affect our decision on where to stay during this same trip in the future.

I don’t write reviews but I can’t stop writing for this one due to many concerns. 1. It was our 1st visit to Sumter and location is downtown but the location n hotel is quite hideous n barely saw people (even though it’s on weekend) 2. Hotel looks overall nice , we saw dirt rag lying in front of elevator- let’s ignore this 3. It feels more like motel to me with few stains on sofa, cracks on sealing, abnormal sound from furnace room- Let’s not ignore this 4. We slept after long day and early morning when it was lil dark and I saw my blanket n got scared( PFA image) . One side of blanket looks shady and can see some crazy stuff. We let person know while checking out bcos that doesn’t feel right on so many levels. We are frequent travelers n been to many hotels across country and never saw t

Excellent breakfast, a spotless hotel, and a genuinely friendly staff — you really can’t ask for much more. I’d definitely stay here again. One moment that stood out was when a staff member not working behind the front desk went out of his way to wish me a great day. It may seem small, but it’s rare for behind-the-scenes employees to initiate that kind of kindness. I truly appreciated it, and it’s one of the reasons I’ll be returning.
