Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sumter by IHG

Room 108 should be PUT OUT OF SERVICE!!! I got NO SLEEP the two nights we stayed there. The first night I jumped out of bed in fear, initially not knowing what it was sounding like a jet engine once I got in the bed!! I looked out the window thinking we were ON the military base!!! The pillows marked “Firm” and ”soft” were both flat, unsupportive and useless. The mattress has seen better days and the bathroom while clean needed renovation. The toilet seat kept shifting around and I don’t enjoy stepping over the wall of a tub to take a shower. The best thing about my entire stay were the biscuits and oh at breakfast and the Dove products provided in the bathroom.

Good: Maybe the best complimentary breakfast I’ve ever had at a hotel. They had all the usual cereals, yogurt, fruit, bagels, and also had sausages, omelets, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and wonderful cinnamon rolls. It was hot and area was clean. |Location was good: right beside Outback Steakhouse, easy to find and get to. |Plentiful and safe parking. |Room was comfortable and well-appointed. Comfy bed and pillows. Full refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, microwave in my standard King room. |Staff was friendly and attentive. |Not so good: First room I was given (upgraded) was a king suite. It smelled like cat pee pretty strong and did not seem clean/well-maintained. I asked if they had a different room. Location is very convenient to Shaw AFB and the Swan Lake Iris Gardens are 10 minutes from here. Complimentary breakfast each morning was great- omelets, sausage, pancakes, yogurts, cereals, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. The rooms are a little old with chipping and peeling but the rates are very reasonable.

Positive: The staff were great and very helpful. Front desk staff were awesome. Negative: 2 pillowcases had really bad makeup stains on them. I informed the front office after I left.

Not one complaint!! Everything perfect. Best coffee from hotel in a long time. They have 2 coffee machines that grinds coffee beans then brews it right there. Hot coffee!! Lady said IHG hotels are changing over to these coffee machines. Bed very comfortable. Room very clean. Excellent shower pressure and hot water. Enlarge tv with most channels that I've had in the past at hotels. Great location. Property very clean. Employees friendly. Breakfast food didn't look that bad. My husband and I always love the cinnamon rolls. So, coffee and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Yummy. Really, had a wonderful stay at cc that Holiday Inn & Suites.
