I was there on NYE, returning to the hotel just befor midnight. This hotel is in the heart of the Old Port and it was rocking with revelers (understandable so). I was on the 4th floor, facing a bar with at least 20 people queued up to enter, all cheering at midnight. I don't know how this works, but I couldn't hear any of them from my room! I slept comfortably and completely enjoyed my stay. All staff memebers were very helpful and friendly. The valet team makes the service smooth and easy to retrieve your car. I will definitely return for another stay.
I can't say enough to disparage this hotel. For starters, our room was disgusting. There was hair everywhere, and the entire floor reeked of weed. Not that I even mind the smell of weed, but there was visible smoke from people lighting up in every other room constantly. The breakfast at this hotel was genuinely inedible and extremely overpriced. The hotel also incorrectly charged us for several things. But the biggest problem is that your property is not safe at this hotel. REBECCA, a maid, stole 3 bridesmaids dresses from my room. When I called for assistance getting the dresses back, I was directed to CHELSEA who completely gaslit me by saying that I must have left them somewhere else (I am 100% certain of where I left them in the closet) and told me that Rebecca couldn't possibly have
Positive: "" Negative: While in the room you can hear the doors in the hallway to other rooms closing very loudly. Also, the walls/door to the bathroom provided no privacy and could hear when someone was using the bathroom.
Great hotel, fabulous location. Our only issue was with parking. We were told valet parking was cheaper than parking elsewhere, and our best option (by the attedent), and after we chose to pay the $45 to park, we learned there was a parking garage right next door that was cheaper. Additionally, we asked that our electric vehicle be charged and were promised it would be (what we thought would be a benefit of valet), but it was only plugged in shortly before our departure the following morning. This experience left a poor impression, though the hotel itself (and rest of staff) were absolutely lovely. You cannot beat the location with lots of restaurants and shops in walking distance. Portland, ME is one of our favourite cities to visit.
My parents stayed here when they came to visit me and it was the worst experience ever. The room was unclean and there was a concern with bed bugs. Their room was also next to the ice machine, which was so overfilled it started leaking all over the floor and into their room. I highly recommend you spend your money on a place that cares about the people and doesn’t have as much ice in their hotel to ruin things.
