Howard Johnson by Wyndham South Portland

I actually booked this hotel via TripAdvisor thinking I was booking a night at this listed Howard Johnson’s, BUT upon entry to the parking lot and hotel I realized this property is no longer affiliated with the Howard Johnson name. The room was ok, a comfortable bed, a clean restroom, but a shabby at best update to the non brand affiliated name. Just be aware if you book this hotel that it is NOT a Howard Johnson hotel as if at least October 2025.

I was initially confused because the sign on the building said “Germaine Inn South Portland” when I was expecting “Howard Johnson”, but a quick google confirmed they were the same. That said, the room was super clean, the area was safe and convenient to Portland, and the stay was a good value.

Excellent stay overall. Staff were accommodating and friendly, room was super comfortable & clean, price was reasonable.

Had a wonderful 2 night stay last week. Contemporary style, beautiful bathroom, whole room was perfect. I'd stay there again anytime.

Vanessa made my booking experience excellent. I highly recommend her when you book this location. Clean room, decent pool and the attached restaurant has good but very pricey food. Taylor the bartender had the personality of a brick. But the hotel and Vanessa were very helpful.
