Courtyard by Marriott Portland Airport

I expected more from this hotel overall. The rooms were not as clean as I would normally expect from a Marriott. There was visible dust on several surfaces, and the couch in both rooms appeared not to have been properly vacuumed. There was also an earring of a previous guest right by the bed. We actually had to request a room change because of the initial cleanliness issues. That said, the room layout and setup were very unique and nicely designed, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the room change process created some confusion. When we switched rooms due to cleanliness, the front desk agent reassigned us but didn’t update the system correctly. We came up to Portland for a nice four day getaway. The hotel sounded very nice on the website. It said they clean the room every other day. Upon our arrival Sunday,we asked when we should expect a room cleaning and they said Tuesday. There were three towels in the room. It was like, one person had to use the same towel for three days. They have a sign that hangs on the door knob but you know you’re in trouble when both sides of the sign say “do not make up the room “. Tuesday we came down and asked for some fresh towels. They said we can’t give you any but someone will bring you up some towels. They did, TWO towels. Stayed four night and room not cleaned once and two towels for our stay.|We had breakfast two times. Positive: Check-in Staff were very helpful and friendly. Negative: Cleaners dropping toilet seats...very loud.

The location of the hotel was great. We found the rooms clean and the staff friendly. The bed, however, was absolutely terrible. It was so hard and uncomfortable. I’ve hardly slept in the three nights I stayed. I feel like I’m crippled up this morning - my back and shoulders are aching terribly. I probably won’t stay here again based solely on the beds. Ouch!

I travel weekly for business, so when a trip to Portland came up, I booked through the Bon Voyage app as I usually do. Upon arrival, I immediately noticed things were off. The hotel bistro was dark, and when I asked about it, I was told, “Oh, it’s closed right now, but it’ll be open for breakfast in the morning.” I went up to my room, and at first glance, everything seemed fine, but a closer look told a different story. The furniture had scratches and dents everywhere—definitely not up to Marriott standards. When I went to take a shower, I noticed a blood smear on the bath mat. After throwing it under the sink, I took my shower, only to step out into a completely flooded bathroom floor. Since the bistro was closed, I left to get dinner elsewhere.
