Historic Charm with a Few Growing Pains I recently stayed at Hotel Skyler and found it to be a beautifully unique property that stands out in the Syracuse area. If you’re looking for a cookie cutter stay, this isn’t it, and that’s mostly a good thing. The aesthetic of the hotel is fantastic. My room felt wonderfully nostalgic, striking a perfect balance of classic elegance and historic character. It feels high end and thoughtful in its design. However, it’s worth noting that the architectural quirks of the building can be a double-edged sword. My room featured small, elevated windows that offered no real view, making the space feel a bit more enclosed than I expected. While the property is stunning, there were two areas that impacted the stay: * The building’s acoustics are qui
Positive: I liked how clean the hotel was and how nice the room was. It was nice and big with tall ceilings. Negative: The hotel only had 3 floors. Our room was on the ground floor next to the bar so we heard a lot of noises. The good thing is that the bar closes at 11pm and the noise subsided.
Fantastic experience. We stayed 4 nights. Hotel was quite and tranquil. Exactly what we needed to relax. Location is great, very close to downtown and with many restaurants within walking distance. They have made to order simple breakfast that we tried one day. It was good but nothing fancy. The staff was welcoming and friendly.
We recently stayed at the Skyler Hotel expecting a higher-end experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The best part of the hotel is its location—very convenient to Syracuse University, which is why we booked it.||However, the hotel is in serious need of renovation. The hallways had dated furniture, worn carpeting, and creaky floors that gave the whole place a tired eerie feel. The hallways reminded me of something out of The Shining. While our room was clean and more modern than the common areas—with updated decor and hardware—it still had odd quirks - notably a large exposed metal beam running overhead. Even the entryway needed help—there were dead cactus plants in plastic pots, which made for an unwelcoming first impression||Parking was available, which was con
This hotel was our first choice when visiting our son at Syracuse. Nice rooms and close to campus. There’s a patio behind the building that’s nice in warmer weather as well. I believe the building it’s in is a former temple - the architecture is interesting.
