Holiday Inn Portland-By The Bay

I went to Maine to work and stayed at the Holiday Inn. This hotel has the best view of all Holiday Inn's I have stayed at before. I was given room 920 and it suited me just fine. I slept really well, although my neighbors were loud in the hallway at night and early morning. Sleep quality was 10/10, and it was great walking less than 4 minutes to enjoy a concert at the State Theatre and less than 10 minutes to a nearby seafood restaurant (David's). I had an excellent experience and I had a great deal for the cost. I recommend and would stay again.

The good: Our stay was cheap, about $100 per night. The view from the 11th floor is really beautiful. Close to lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance. The bad: Do not expect a hot shower in the morning. We were on the 11th floor and the shower was cold both days. The breakfast buffet would be great if it was complimentary. But it's not. $17.50 each for mid range food (kids eat free, though, so I guess there's a bonus if you have kids.) My husband got a bite of spoiled instant oats. The staff managing the dining room were talking poorly about customers loud enough to be heard from the coffee bar. If you didn't get vouchers you're better off taking your money over to the Canopy Hotel's breakfast spot for quality breakfast food that hasn't been sitting out for the same

We went down for the company's Winter Holiday party! |At check-in, everyone was pleasant and answered a couple of questions we had. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, perfect for sitting and chatting with family and friends. The banquet room was wonderful with holiday touches and a fun atmosphere! But it could certainly be set up to suit anyone's tastes or function. We had the corner room facing the water, which is amazing! Everything was clean and updated with modern touches! I love the type of blind/curtain system they use, which offers complete blackout, privacy, and/or water views.

Our flight was cancelled and we had to grab a hotel for the night. So happy we chose HI. We had a corner king room with a wonderful view of the bay and a lovely sunrise. Staff was top notch. Construction was going on during our stay, so front door was not accessible, which made using their shuttle a little inconvenient. However, the shuttle drivers and this services was great to have! Not as convenient a location as being more downtown-center, but having the shuttle and view made it very nice. I think I would choose this hotel over the downtown hotel we stayed at earlier in the week. The food was tasty, cooked to order. The staff is friendly and professional. The people at this hotel made our flight delay tolerable. They had a shared microwave down the hall, I like one in my room. Bathroom

I’d give this hotel a 4.5. Nice onsite parking is a plus. Easy check in process. Good location and nice rooms. Front desk staff very friendly. Only knock would be the WiFi. Very spotty when attempting to use it. Not the end of the world obviously. Would stay here again.
