Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kansas City Sport Complex Area by IHG

We went to this location a few years ago and the quality was so great, we decided to stay again this trip. The front desk person was nice and got is checked in quickly. The location is not bad as it's not far from many places in the city, although a little weird to get to and get out of. However, it was not impressive this time around. The bed linens were changed, but you could tell the room was not fully cleaned. We found trash in random spots on the floor, stains on some of the walls, and it looked like the bathroom sustained some water damage that may have made it to the room itself. It was clear that many of the rooms were being worked on as we could hear drills on occasion. For the price it was only mildly worth it, but I think I'll pick a different hotel next time.

Positive: The location, and the breakfast Negative: The sofa bed mattress had stains on it and was ripped, the air conditioner and heater unit had a part that was broken. I don't think they cleaned the bathroom.

The pull-out mattress was ripped and had a huge brown stain on it, and bedding for that was not provided. The towels were all worn, with numerous long snags hanging off them. The whole room had visible dirt, hair and stains. The bathroom was not clean, and wallpaper was curling off the walls. "Includes breakfast" consisted of a broken pancake machine, an out of order juice machine, some cereal, and a cavernous pastry case containing exactly four pieces of white bread. Did not check to see if the toaster would be the one functioning entity in the breakfast room. There was no yogurt. Was afraid to try the pitcher of milk, another in the party said it tasted like water.

The rooms were poor quality, one of the outlets actually had a piece of metal stuck in it so we couldn't use it. Walls are paper thin so anything happening in the room next to you, you can hear. Cracks in the walls and ceiling. Seemed to be a lot of vagrants in and out of the facility. Lits of rubber gloves laying in the parking lot. Breakfast was horrible. Food tasted like card board. Definitely will never stay at this ine ever again and I do not recommend it.

DO NOT STAY HERE. |Our group had more than 20 rooms, so we saw a wide and accurate snapshot of this property. The negative reviews are absolutely consistent with what we experienced—and what you don’t see online are the misleading statements the hotel provides to corporate when guests report problems.||The health and safety issues at this hotel are simply not worth the risk. The rooms had strong, toxic‑smelling odors, and we found multiple air fresheners stuffed inside the air‑handling units as well as plug‑ins throughout the room. Staff even sprayed a substance directly into the unit to mask the smell, which did nothing to fix the underlying problem.||We also encountered bugs in multiple rooms—even in the middle of winter—and one family found drug paraphernalia in theirs.||Before arrival
