Holiday Inn Express Dumfries by IHG

I had a fantastic experience staying at this top-rated hotel before my race in the area. The location is absolutely perfect for any traveler, especially those needing quick access to the highway, as it's conveniently located right off Interstate 95 (I-95). This made my morning commute to the race location incredibly easy and stress-free. The hotel staff provided truly fantastic service—everyone was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. The rooms themselves were great, very clean, and provided a quiet retreat, which is essential for pre-race relaxation. Positive: It's in a convenient location. There was a bed in the room. Negative: Felt like an unsafe knockoff Holiday Inn with dated decor and low ceilings. Roach‑infested bathroom, no coffee maker, weak breakfast, $100 incidental, broken gym gear, outdated TV, dead outlets, and hallways reeking of weed and cigarette smoke.

The hotel was very nice and looked new. Staff was good and professional. Parking in front of the build gets full very quickly. The only odd thing that happened was the cleaning. Stayed two nights. On the second night, the cleaning people cleaned the room but didn't make the bed. Everything else was as new/cleaned, just not the bed. Other than that, it was a good stay. Would stay there again.

I think the photos speak for themselves. Trash was the same at check in and when I left. You can tell they don't clean anything properly, shower was also dirty. Smells musty and like body odor in the room. Eggs were dry and almost crunchy. Where's the bacon? 🥓 the sausage was horrible.

Hotel was clean, reasonably priced and in a quiet area, with IHOP within walking distance across the street (you'll appreciate this). The service was excellent and everyone was friendly. The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot. There were 3 of us in a double queen room and there were 3 towels, 3 washcloths.... nothing to spare and 2 of us have waist length hair. All the body products were Dove brand and smelled great. We checked in at around 11pm. Came back after midnight and the marijuana smell knocked you over. Their breakfast SUCKED. It was absolutely awful. "Mikey" did NOT like it. Everything was reheated at least once and I'd venture to guess more than that.
