Holiday Inn Charlottesville-Monticello by IHG

Well first of all I had to stay for my work, the rooms are nice. The location is ideal, the reason why I am reviewing it is because of the condition of the parking lot, snow was everywhere which is understandable, the issue with that is that the parking lot wasn’t plowed in such a manner to get my car out, friends from my job was here as well an we had to dig our path clear……later on the same evening I was able to get my car out an decided to move to a more convenient space, when I did I was struck all over again, other hotel guests helped me out an I was grateful for that, when the plow came through the first time it just more snow in front of the vehicles and I know when I leave in the morning it’s going to be a mess , hotel workers was no big help. I travel with my pup…found this hotel in Charlottesville to be super reasonable and pet friendly! The front desk greeted us and we were able to settle into our room quickly. There is an outdoor pool, didn’t bring a suit but there’s always next time. The pup had a large area to potty and he felt very comfortable in the room. I will say there are quite a few pups there so a popular place for dog mums and dads. I slept well the room was clean and quiet!

Positive: Everything when staying at the 6th floor where pets are not allowed. I stayed in room 623 and a bad spirit was in there. Didn't bother me until past midnight. Negative: Room 623.

June 2025 Avoid this hotel. We checked in and immediately walked into a room that smelled like urine. The hotel’s solution was to give us an aerosol spray that was industrial use only. They “had no other rooms” available that night and we tried to ignore the smell. After one of us closed the bathroom door to shower we saw a literal poop on the floor. Only after that did they offer us a room that was blocked off for a business account. We declined and asked for our money back and had to contact management ourselves. In my opinion, a refund should’ve been automatic and we didn’t get compensated otherwise. Unless you like being in a room that smells like urine and has a piece of poop in it, avoid this hotel at all costs.

The location is great and the hotel and even the rooms are nice, BUT if you have any difficulty sleeping there's a couple things that really work against your comfort: First, REALLY bright lights in the bathroom and bedside. Goodbye any sleepies, you have just been blinded by the light. Second, the toilets flush with incredible force, just set a firecracker off in my ear why don't you! And to a much lesser degree: The bathroom doors are on rollers, so they make a loud rumble any time they open and close. The rooms were neat and tidy and comfortable, but the water pressure in the shower was really not good, so thumbs down on that too.
